The Solutions Engineer partners with Sales and Customer Engineering, guiding customers through database migrations and optimizing solutions. Responsibilities include technical discovery, designing migrations, assessing workloads, creating tools and documentation, and collaborating with teams for customer needs.

Design and build scalable backend systems for PlanetScale's database platform (Vitess/Postgres), collaborate on distributed systems challenges, work autonomously and with customers, optimize performance, and mentor engineers while operating systems at production scale.

Advise and handle enterprise customer support requests for PlanetScale platform, act as customer-facing SME, identify and escalate product gaps, collaborate with TAM/Engineering/Sales Engineering, and participate in on-call rotation for high-priority incidents.
