Work Environment

  • Remote role, based full time in Ireland, UK or Romania.
  • Occasional travel may be required to our offices. Regrettably, we are unable to offer visa or work permit sponsorship for this role.

About this Role

  • This is a hands-on test engineering role for someone who genuinely loves testing. Not tolerating it but loving it. (circa 70% manual & 30% automation)

Our two core products are:

  • Patholytix our research pathology platform used by pharma and CROs to streamline and scale preclinical study workflows. This is where you will spend the majority of your time.
  • Diagnexia is our clinical diagnostic platform, supporting pathologists with AI-assisted image analysis and decision support in a regulated clinical environment. You’ll also work on this as needed.

Your  role is primarily focused on our
Patholytix product, which spans both a modern web-based product, and on-premise components. The web front end is JavaScript. The on-premises components include a C# and C++ and a Java application, all of which require continued support and testing.

  • Our sprint cycles are fast, priorities shift, and requirements are rarely perfect. At the same time, both products operate under strict regulatory frameworks including the EU AI Act, MDR, ISO 42001, and GLP. That context shapes everything about how we build, test, and ship software. Errors here have real consequences.
  • Agentic AI is already embedded across test preparation, execution, and automation and you will be expected to use it as a standard part of your workflow.
  •  You do not need to be an automation engineer. But you do need to be comfortable rolling up your sleeves and using the tools available to you, including AI agents.

One more thing worth naming clearly:

  • We are Agile in our day-to-day development and testing, and waterfall in our compliance, documentation, and validation processes. That dual reality is intentional and non-negotiable.In this role, you will need to operate confidently in both worlds.

How We Work

  • Our QA team is involved from the moment items enter the backlog.
  • You sit in requirements sessions, analyse functional specifications, design test cases, and carry those cases through to execution and defect management.
  •  You are never handed a finished product and asked to find bugs. Instead you’re  part of shaping what good looks like right from the start.
  •  We are agile in our sprint cycles and expect an agile mindset: comfortable with changing priorities, able to work with incomplete requirements, and skilled at risk-based decisions as  deadlines are always tight.

Technology Stack

  • Web front end: JavaScript, React
  • On-premise: Java , C#, C++,
  • Automation: Playwright (TypeScript)
  • API testing: Postman, REST API (with degrees of complexity)
  • Project management: Jira
  • AI tooling: Cursor, Agentic AI workflows

Responsibilities

  • Manual testing of desktop and web applications across Patholytix and other products as needed
  • Use agentic AI tools actively across test preparation, execution, and test automation
  • Work with a distributed agile development team to create high quality epics and stories that lead to testable features
  • Engage in requirements analysis from the point items enter the backlog, challenging ambiguity and gaps early & often
  • Analyse functional and non-functional use cases to define test activities
  • Design test cases, test scripts, and test data that validate each use case
  • Define clean, focused test scenarios, cases, and steps that are of consistent high quality
  • Use risk-based and impact-based approaches to make effective use of time and resources
  • Plan and design test strategies
  • Ensure quality defect logging, analysis, and investigation by supporting triage and defect management procedures
  • Drive quality improvements through process, communication, and collaboration across sprint teams
  • Produce high quality work within a defined SDLC and QMS, including compliance documentation aligned to the V-model
  • Complete all mandatory company and role-specific training including ISMS, GLP, DocuSign, and SDLC as applicable

What This Role Is Not

We want to be honest with you upfront, because the right fit matters to us as much as it matters to you.

  • Manual testing is 70% percent of this role. If that does not excite you, this is not the right fit.
  • If you need a calm, structured environment and a clear task list to do your best work, our pace will frustrate you.
  • If quality is not something you advocate for across the business, you’ll ft in

About You (Skills and Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • ISTQB certification
  • Five to six years manual testing experience with a strong  test methodology and risk-based mindset
  • Experience defining and executing manual test scripts across BOTH web and desktop applications
  • Experience in web-based automation testing
  • Familiarity with Playwright (or willingness to transition from Selenium)
  • API testing knowledge including REST concepts  with some complexity, and Postman
  • Proficient in Python; other languages a plus
  • Comfortable working across Windows and Linux
  • Some Experience using AI tooling
and agentic workflows in test or a clear willingness to develop this
  • Must have worked in cross functional agile teams (e.g dev., design, etc)

Advantageous Experience

  • Experience in a regulated industry (e.g. Med Tech/ Pharma etc) using models such as the V-model or Waterfall
  • Familiarity with GLP regulations or GLP-compliant software environments

Values: What We Look For Beyond Technical Skills

Technical ability gets you in the room. How you work determines whether you thrive here. These are assessed at every interview stage and carry equal weight to your technical skills.

  • Ownership: You follow through, raise issues, and see things to resolution. Completing the task is your baseline, not your finish line.
  • Proactivity: You flag risks and refine approaches before being asked.
  • Inquisitiveness: You are curious about the product, the system, and the patient impact behind it.
  • Adaptability: You make good calls when requirements are unclear and priorities shift. You find a way forward without having to be told.
  • Advocacy: You bring a quality mindset into every conversation, not just the test phase.
  • Root cause thinking: Yes finding the bug matters. Understanding why it happened, matters more.
  • Stay steady under pressure, make sound decisions with incomplete information, and adapt quickly when priorities shift without losing sight of quality.
