Job Purpose
As a Software Development Engineer in Test at CR2, you will play a key role within a Scrum team to ensure the quality, reliability, and robustness of our digital banking solutions.
You will work close to the product under test — understanding business requirements, clarifying acceptance criteria, designing targeted test coverage (manual & automated).
This role requires strong technical ability, leadership mindset, and attention to detail. You will actively contribute to automation test creation, and ongoing maintenance while helping elevate quality standards across the team.
Our Hybrid Working Model requires employees to be on-site three days per week in our Amman / Bangalore office.
Key Responsibilities
Agile & Product Collaboration
- Develop product and product domain understanding to ensure testing targets true business risk and critical workflows.
- Own the testing of projects you are involved in from requirements refinement to production release.
- Clarify user stories with Product Owners and developers to ensure clarity & testability.
- Participate actively in all Agile ceremonies, providing accurate estimates.
- Communicate progress, risks, and blockers proactively, escalate issues as appropriate and keep Jira up to date.
- Work within an Agile environment, using JIRA and continuous delivery processes & tools.
Test Design & Automation
- Create, maintain and run automated tests across Web and Mobile & API.
- Follow established automation framework standards.
- Ensure tests (manual and automated) are meaningful.
- Actively reduce flakiness and improve stability within your test suite.
Manual & Exploratory Testing
- Execute manual tests where appropriate.
- Perform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and usability issues.
- Validate complex business workflows in collaboration with stakeholders.
Quality Ownership & Leadership
- Take ownership of quality within your product area –contributing to continuous improvement in our processes and tooling and promoting shift-left quality practices.
- Mentor junior QA engineers and support onboarding on new team members.
- Maintain and expand existing documentation (how to docs etc.).
Defect & Environment Management
- Identify, log, and track defects through to closure with clear root cause analysis.
- Collaborate closely with developers to resolve issues effectively.
- Support test data preparation and environment validation.
Required Experience, Skills & Competencies
Technical Capability:
- 4+ years’ experience in QA.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Hands-on experience with Java, Selenium, Appium, TestNG, RestAssured (or similar).
- Hands on experience with Mobile, API and UI automation.
- Experience with Jira, Xray or equivalent sprint/ test mgt tooling.
- Solid understanding of testing multi-tier systems (DB, services, web, mobile).
- Experience in banking, fintech, or other regulated industries preferred.

- Strong test design skills and understanding of risk-based testing.
- High attention to detail and ability to spot edge cases.
- Comfortable balancing automation and manual testing.
Leadership & Communication
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to articulate risks and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Confident in asking clarifying questions and challenging ambiguities.
- Strong collaboration skills across Product, Engineering, and QA.
- Ability to mentor and guide peers.
