About the Role:

The European Risk Lead for Citco Fund Services will be responsible for execution and delivery of Citco’s risk management framework within Fund Services division globally but with a geographical focus on European-based locations. The role will work closely with Operational Controls Management in the assessment, execution and reporting of risk management matters both at functional and legal entity levels, with active participation and leadership within governance forums and operational risk committee structures. The candidate will play an active role within Group Risk Management leadership and will foster development of key stakeholder relationships within senior business leaders, primarily within Europe, to leverage expertise and to influence the business in its management of risk. A successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of effecting execution and embedding of risk frameworks and improving organisational awareness and risk maturity generally. The role reports into to the Head of Risk for Fund Services.

Responsibilities

Your Role: 

General

  • Supports business management in embedding risk awareness and controls understanding necessary for the division to operate effectively;
  • Plays a lead role in representing Group Risk Management in risk governance forums and committees;
  • Maintains and continuously improves delivery of risk information to legal entity, functional, and / or, line of business operational risk committee forums;
  • Performs analysis of business risks, providing a check and challenge role of first line risk assessment(s);
  • Oversees the health of the control environment and coordinate with management to improve controls where deficiencies are detected;
  • Fosters and promotes a risk aware and risk mature culture;
  • Drives adherence to risk policies and procedures;
  • Directs the identification and escalation of key risk issues; 
  • Monitors the appropriateness and delivery of risk mitigating actions; 
  • Supports management in coordinating remediation response(s) with key partners also including Operational Control Management, Group Internal Audit, Group Compliance and other Group functions where required;
  • Develops strong working relationships with key stakeholders and senior business management;;
  • Represents Group Risk Management within various boards of directors and with regulators where relevant;
  • Builds strong strategic alliances with Group Functions and other internal and external stakeholders;
  • Effects change to the business environment through embedding the risk framework and improving its risk maturity and awareness;

 

Group Risk Management

  • Plays an active role in Group Risk Management development initiatives including policy, procedures and toolkit development;
  • Designs and deliver training where appropriate for Risk Managers, Operational Control functions and within the first line;
  • Develops analysis and guidance on emerging risk areas, benchmarking best practices;
  • Promote the development of the risk management function.
Qualifications

About You:

  • Seasoned risk professional with extensive senior leadership experience.
  • Strong analytical skill set and broad industry knowledge gained at major global financial institutions.
  • Extensive knowledge of end-to-end processes and infrastructure required to deliver fund administration products and services to clients.
  • Deep understanding of risk management frameworks and control environments in a financial services setting.
  • Experience of identifying and addressing deficiencies in risk management and/or control operation across the full product lifecycle and/or end-to-end processes.
  • Experience of building, leading and developing a teams that operate effectively across time zones and cultures. 
  • Proven ability to motivate staff across the organisation and generate enthusiasm for, and alignment with, good risk management practises.
  • Good understanding and awareness of market-standard approaches for risk mitigation and control design and execution.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulation and regulatory expectation across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Proven ability to build positive working relationships with senior stakeholders across the business and become a "trusted advisor" whilst maintaining the ability to provide robust challenge.
  • Excellent communication skills. Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation. 
  • Able to convey complex topics simply and to articulate issues in a way that eases decision making and drives action.
