VP, Engineering

Position Summary:

The role is for a senior Development and Delivery executive to lead modernization and innovation efforts for the Financial Messaging product line coordinating with development managers to form an advanced R&D arm providing next-generation products and services for Bottomline’s customers. The successful candidate will lead the design and development of the Financial Messaging portfolio including new SaaS platform capabilities for highly available messaging solutions.

Essential Job Functions:

Delivery

· Own the development and delivery program for a portfolio of financial messaging products including our highly available 24x7 SaaS platform offerings

· Collaborate and coordinate with stakeholders across architecture, operations, and shared-services teams – to enable end to end delivery and alignment with strategic technology directions

· Coordinate with Financial Messaging Solutions product management to align development roadmaps, deliverables, and the definition of new features and services

· Drive rapid development and delivery of innovative solutions for our customers

· Truly embrace agile development and delivery through continuous coaching and engagement with our distributed teams

· Create a scalable and repeatable model for rapid iteration and delivery of news features and capabilities that are highly secure, performant, and available

Direction

· Act as the overall senior technology leader. Set technology direction consistent with the Bottomline platform strategy, working with the CTO leadership, the Global Architecture team

· Work with other product line leaders to help them align their products with the Financial Messaging technology direction

· Act as chief communicator and evangelist for our services and integrations both internally and externally

Team

· Build a modern, first-class development and delivery function for the Financial Messaging portfolio in alignment with modern SaaS best practices

· Acting as leader and chair, collaborate and engage with the teams at all levels to foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and excellence across all engineering functions

· Working with across organizations with peers embody Bottomline’s culture of working for and with each other

Required Skills:

Technical

· Experienced in enterprise delivery, Agile and scaled Scrum best practices, continuous integration and continuous delivery

· Experience with cloud native/SaaS best practices, highly available systems, scalable architectures, secure development and operations

· Experience with secure software development

· Preferably has worked in Fintech or other regulated type environments

Delivery

· Can demonstrate a track record of development and delivery of complex SaaS solutions

· Pragmatic approach to balancing commercial and technical priorities to ensure on time delivery

· Experienced in Agile and scaling approaches to modern development and delivery, particularly in a multi-team, multi-service environment

· Track record of building and developing first-class development teams who consistently deliver

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience

· 15+ years of proven and expanding experience in engineering leadership

· Experience managing, coaching, and leading individuals and teams
