What Does this Role Entail
Fenergo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Team Lead to lead and mentor a team of software engineers of varying levels, fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and technical excellence. You will partner closely with the Product and Design team to deliver scalable, high-performance SaaS products. The ideal candidate will be a strong technical leader with experience in building enterprise-level SaaS products, while also having a strong ability to work cross-functionally with Sales and customer-facing teams to align with business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing, inclusive engineering team by providing clear direction, regular feedback, and meaningful career development.
- Translate organizational strategy into a clear technical roadmap, aligning the team around priorities and ensuring everyone understands the “why” behind the work.
- Drive consistent, high-quality delivery by managing scope, setting expectations, removing blockers, and adapting plans in response to new information.
- Create an environment where healthy debate, diverse opinions, and experimentation are encouraged, and where learnings (successes and failures) are openly shared.
- Partner closely with product, design, and other stakeholders to define requirements, clarify assumptions, and ensure shared accountability for outcomes.
- Uphold strong engineering practices by continuously improving processes, promoting thoughtful tradeoff decisions, and balancing speed with long-term maintainability.
- Ensure the team builds scalable, cost-conscious solutions using sound judgment, adopting new technologies where they add value and leveraging existing ones when appropriate.
- Model the organization’s values through communication, collaboration, and decision-making, and hold the team to high standards of behavior and delivery.
Requirements
Key Expectations
- At least seven years of professional software engineering experience, including proven success leading and developing engineers as a people manager.
- Demonstrated ability to hire, coach, retain, and grow diverse technical talent.
- Experience translating business strategy into clear, actionable engineering plans and driving teams to predictable delivery.
- Strong collaboration skills with a track record of partnering effectively across product, design, and other functions
- Ability to foster psychological safety, healthy debate, and a culture of experimentation and continuous learning.
- Deep understanding of modern engineering practices, system design principles, and operational tradeoffs.
- Experience making balanced, pragmatic decisions about architecture, tooling, and technical investment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to set expectations, deliver feedback, and represent the team within the broader organization.
- Technical fluency sufficient to guide engineers, evaluate solutions, and maintain a high bar for quality and craftsmanship.
