Job Summary / Position Overview
The Sr. Manager, Analytics Operations – Transition Services is accountable for establishing and running a standardized project-to-operations transition capability for Analytics & AI products. This role partners with development/product teams and operations teams to ensure solutions are operationally ready, align to pre-defined architecture and development standards, and can be supported at scale through documentation, training, monitoring, alerting, and structured hypercare. The role is also responsible for coordinating knowledge transfer (KT) and ensuring frontline support engagement (e.g., BBRC) is planned and enabled as solutions move into steady-state operations.
Key Outcomes (What success looks like)
A repeatable, measurable transition process that moves solutions from “project mode” to “operations mode” with clear entry/exit criteria
Operational readiness verified before handoff (standards met; monitoring/runbooks/escalations in place; KT completed).
Reduced transition cycle time and fewer production issues driven by incomplete handoffs. (Metrics concepts aligned to cycle time and operational efficiency KPIs)
Core Responsibilities
1) Define and Own the Transition Services Process
Design, document, and maintain the end-to-end Service Transition / Transition Services process for Analytics & AI solutions.
Establish clear stage gates, required artifacts, and acceptance criteria for transitioning solutions to operations (including readiness, KT, and hypercare).
Ensure transition expectations enforce “operational readiness” and alignment to pre-defined architecture and development standards (and that solutions do not require refactoring to be operable).
2) Coordinate Project-to-Operations Handoffs (Cross-Functional Orchestration)
Partner with development teams to understand application functionality and architecture, identify components/assets to be transitioned, define operations needs, and plan handoffs.
Drive cross-team coordination for transition activities (operations, development, product, security, validation/quality, and support) to ensure readiness and smooth cutover.
Establish and manage roles & responsibilities post-handover, including escalation paths and support ownership.
3) Operational Readiness, Runbooks, Monitoring, and Hypercare
Ensure required runbooks, alerts, and operational procedures are created/validated prior to go-live and handoff.
Define hypercare approach (joint coverage, escalation model) during go-live and stabilization to ensure operational continuity.
Validate monitoring/KPIs and operational health expectations are defined prior to transition, including how incidents are detected, triaged, escalated, and resolved.
4) Knowledge Transfer (KT), Documentation, and Training Enablement
Own the KT plan and execution across development and operations teams, ensuring complete transfer of documentation, operational procedures, and support materials, including walkthroughs and Q&A
Ensure operations teams understand key solution components (e.g., access model, pipelines to monitor, AI agent footprint, modules, and LLM/model usage) as part of transition readiness.
5) Frontline Support Enablement (BBRC Engagement) & Intake Integration
Engage frontline support early and ensure appropriate enablement, routing, and support readiness as solutions become operational.
Align transition intake with the broader operations workflow and ensure clear traceability across incidents/requests, backlog, and enhancements.
6) Continuous Improvement, Governance, and Metrics
Drive continuous improvement for transition effectiveness using operational metrics (e.g., transition cycle time, runbook coverage, SLA/MTTR-focused outcomes, and backlog/velocity concepts already defined in AO ops materials).
Partner with governance and technical standards stakeholders to ensure transitioned solutions comply with standards and are supportable long-term.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in deploying and managing application and ML models in production environments.
Lead initiatives related to continuous improvement.
Works independently. Responsible for the direct management of a cross functional team including results/outcomes
Strong understanding of LLM and machine learning principles including lifecycle management.
Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, PySpark, SQL, Bash/PowerShell
Extensive experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS is preferrable, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Expertise in CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
In-depth knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Grafana, ELK stack).
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate and present complex information clearly and concisely across all levels.
Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge and expertise thereby establishing a strong reputation for themselves and the team.
