The Cloud Architect supports project teams implementing infrastructure for global projects across Aptiv’s divisions and defining solutions to meet business requirements.  You will be involved from the initial shaping of the solutions, creating designs and developing into a High Level Design deliverable with associated cost estimations for execution and steady state operation. 

The Cloud Architect collaborates with the Network, Hosting, Cybersecurity and Application Architecture teams to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective solutions and new technologies for our business partners.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with AWS and Azure environments, and strong general networking skills. You will play a critical role in designing our cloud infrastructure and ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our cloud-based systems.

Your role

  • Design and implement cloud architecture solutions that meet business and technical requirements.

  • Author and review architecture artefacts including ROMs (Rough order of Magnitude), HLDs (High Level Design) and BRDs (Business Requirement Document).

  • Lead cloud migration initiatives and modernization of legacy systems.

  • Define cloud governance, security, and compliance frameworks adhering to Enterprise Architecture Governance processes.

  • Highlight areas of risk and dependency, with associated mitigation proposals.

  • Oversee all technical aspects of implementations for end-to-end integrated systems.

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the organization's technologies and architectures.

  • Develop logical, conceptual and physical architectural models.

  • Communicate solutions, architectural decisions, plans, and goals to project teams.

  • Support business and IT strategic planning.

  • Review new and existing program/project architecture for compliance with IT standards, policies and architectural plans.

  • Architect and design cloud solutions for platforms, including AWS, Azure, and GCP, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including solution designs, implementation plans, and best practices.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams

Your Background

The Cloud Architect will be an effective communicator and leader with the ability to conceptualize, plan, document and communicate effectively is critical.  The candidate will possess energy, have a flexible approach, be a creative thinker, develop value-added service definitions, and help lead change. 

The successful candidate for this position will have the following experience and expertise:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 

  • AWS, Azure and GCP certifications are desired.

  • Practical experience with both Windows and Linux operating systems.

  • Strong general networking skills, including knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, and firewall configurations.

  • Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • •Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and self-motivated approach.

  • Experience with a multi cloud environment.

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).

  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements in a cloud environment.
