The Role

The Software Engineer in Test (SET) is responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated test frameworks and tools, ensuring the quality and reliability of software applications. The role involves close collaboration with software development, DevOps and QA teams to identify areas where automation can improve testing efficiency, coverage and overall product quality.

As a SET, you will apply your software engineering skills to write test code and design systems for automating manual processes, validating features and improving the continuous integration (CI) pipeline. This role requires a solid understanding of test automation, software development best practices and modern testing tools and methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain scalable and reliable automated test frameworks for functional, integration, regression and performance testing;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases;
  • Work with DevOps teams to integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipelines, ensuring continuous testing throughout the software development lifecycle;
  • Perform manual testing where necessary, especially in complex scenarios or new features where automated testing may not be feasible initially;
  • Identify, document, and track software defects in collaboration with the development teams to ensure timely resolutions;
  • Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality standards for automated tests and testing frameworks;
  • Analyze test results, generate reports and track key quality metrics to ensure transparency on the quality and stability of software releases;
  • Identify opportunities for test automation, process improvements and testing best practices to enhance overall product quality and testing efficiency.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field;
  • 2+ years of experience in software development, test automation or software quality engineering;
  • Strong understanding of software QA methodologies, tools and processes;
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages (Java is preferred);
  • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks like Selenium, Appium, Maven, Gradle, Cucumber, Rest API or similar;
  • Familiarity with continuous integration tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI) and version control systems (e.g. Git);
  • Experience with defect tracking and test case management tools (Jira is preferred);
  • Strong knowledge of API testing tools (e.g. Postman, REST-assured) and good understanding of RESTful services;
  • Ability to write and execute SQL queries for validating data integrity and back-end functionality;
  • Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter, Gatling or similar will be considered a plus;
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
