Job Description

  • Motivate peers and more junior engineers to reach outstanding levels of software delivery

  • Mentor peers and more junior engineers in design, code, and software delivery best practice

  • Define new processes to support engineering excellence as well as highlight and patch gaps in existing processes, e.g. research, champion, and implement new testing tools and techniques

  • Define organizational best practices and standards with senior engineers

  • Live our core values of rationality, collegiality, and integrity.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Core Java expertise (three years’ experience minimum in a professional engineering role)

  • History of outstanding software delivery

  • Proficiency in industry design patterns

  • Proven ability to design a complex feature or service with a small, empowered, cross-functional team

  • Expert in developing and delivering features using agile development practices (Scrum, TDD, pair programming, etc.)

  • Practiced in continuous integration and continuous delivery and expert user of supporting build and code management tools (e.g. GitHub, Jenkins, TeamCity, JUnit, Karate, TestCafe, JaCoCo, SonarQube)

  • Good working knowledge of other programming and scripting languages (Kotlin, Python, bash)

  • Capacity to quickly learn new technologies and understand their applications to engineering problems

  • Strong leadership skills: can motivate others, hold them accountable with compassion, and mentor them—both synchronously and asynchronously—in system design, code quality, and operational excellence

  • Experience designing and incrementally improving processes for continuous software delivery

  • Exceptional communication and facilitation skills

  • A desire to be hands-on in designing and writing code

  • Curiosity and an internal drive to learn and constantly improve

  • Experience creating web services (SOAP, REST)

  • Experience with cloud services a bonus, e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform
