The Product-Led Growth team builds the in-product experiences that help restaurants discover, try, buy, and adopt the Toast products they need. We own the services and surfaces that decide which restaurants see which offers, carry them through purchase and activation inside the product, and tell us whether it worked.
This is measurable, revenue-attached work. Every experience we ship has a conversion metric behind it, and we know within weeks whether it worked. We're a small team with a large surface area, and we're early in turning PLG from a set of hand-built campaigns into a platform: shared targeting, offer delivery, purchase, and measurement services that let us launch a new experiment in days instead of weeks.
You'll ship experiments into production, read the results, and decide what comes next, and you'll build the shared services that make each launch faster than the last. You'll work with product, marketing, sales operations, and data science to turn a hypothesis about customer behavior into a targeted in-product experience, then prove or disprove it with data.
About this roll*
- Drive end-to-end development of the backend services that power in-product growth experiences: eligibility, targeting, offer delivery, self-serve purchase, activation, and conversion tracking, owning the full lifecycle and iterating on measured outcomes.
- Build the shared infrastructure that makes the next experiment cheaper than the last: reusable targeting and eligibility services, campaign configuration, and a purchase flow that new offers plug into rather than rebuild.
- Build and evolve integrations with the systems those services depend on, consuming propensity scores, Toast IQ recommendations, and CMS-driven campaign controls, and connecting to billing, contracting, and provisioning systems so a restaurant can complete a purchase inside the product.
- Build LLM-powered experiences on Toast IQ, from prompt and tool design through evaluation and production monitoring.
- Design experimentation and attribution instrumentation so every launch has a clear measurement story, and use production data to kill or scale experiences quickly.
- Partner with product, design, marketing, sales, and data science to translate business goals like adoption and upsell targets into concrete, testable product changes.
- Contribute to technical design and architecture discussions, and help set engineering standards for a team that is growing.
- Mentor other engineers through code review, pairing, and technical guidance.
Do you have the right ingredients*?
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building and maintaining production backend systems in Kotlin, Java, or another object-oriented language, with enough full-stack experience to ship web or native front-end changes when needed.
- Proven ability to own features end-to-end through design, launch, measurement, and iteration.
- Product-minded builder who is comfortable making product calls, launching, and iterating on what customers actually do, working across PM, design, and sales rather than executing tickets.
- Experience with experimentation, A/B testing, or growth engineering, and a working understanding of attribution: you can explain why a metric moved and whether to believe it.
- Experience building on LLMs or AI platforms, in production or in side projects. Interest in agents and tool use is a bonus.
- Experience building customer-facing features on top of data products such as scores, segments, or recommendations is a plus.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and with making tradeoffs between speed and scale.
- Proficient with AI tooling such as Claude, Cursor, and MCP servers.
**This is a hybrid role requiring in-office collaboration two days per week in our Dublin office.**
