The International team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on backend development to help us drive market expansion by building tools that help scale localization processes for all the engineering teams at Squarespace.
Our team's mission is to empower Squarespace teams with patterns & tools to build culturally relevant, linguistically accurate experiences, so that Squarespace becomes the best choice for entrepreneurs regardless of their location.
As a Software Engineer on the team, you'll work with Product and Design and other engineers in the team to speed up translation throughput and help localizing Squarespace products. Empathy for non-native English speaking users, curiosity about different cultures and what it takes to create a successful product for different markets, as well as great collaboration and mentoring skills are valuable in this role.
You will report to the Engineering Team Manager of the Localization Engineering team. This is a hybrid role working from our Dublin, Ireland office 3 days per week. This is a geographically dispersed team between NYC and Dublin.

- Code. Collaborate with engineers, designers and product managers to create a user-focused experience
- Collaborate. Work with other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and effective technical solutions.
- Mentor. Enjoy mentoring and collaborating with engineers of different skill levels to promote growth and success. Offer guidance to junior engineers, supporting their development.
Who We're Looking For
- 5+ years experience with Java or another object-oriented programming language
- Experience with architecture and best practices for maintainable code
- Familiarity with A/B testing, Agile development, and data-driven decision-making
- Experience communicating updates and resolutions to customers and other partners and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
- Experience with a non-relational / noSQL database such as Elasticsearch, MongoDB, or DynamoDB
