Where we work

Udemy is a global company headquartered in San Francisco, with additional U.S. offices in Denver and Austin, and international hubs in Australia, India, Ireland, Mexico, and Türkiye. This is an in-office position, requiring three days a week in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.

About this role

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Network Systems Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in the development, administration, and maintenance of our on-premise office networks and cloud systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our network infrastructure.

About your Skills 

  • Networking Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of networking technologies, including configuring and managing network devices specifically for office networks

  • Systems Administration: Proficiency in administering and supporting IT SaaS platforms and understanding of system integrations leveraging API connections or Workflow automation solutions. Experience administering AWS Cloud infrastructure and networking is a plus

  • Troubleshooting & Communication Skills: Strong ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues. Clear and effective communicator with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and embrace new technologies and methodologies 

  • Automation: Experience utilizing DevOps tools like Terraform & Ansible for network automation along with low code workflow automation tools like Workato or Okta workflows is highly desirable but not required

What you'll be doing:

  • Administer and maintain the VPN and office network infrastructure, ensuring high performance and reliability.

  • Manage and configure network devices including Cisco switches, Meraki switches, and Fortigate firewalls.

  • Support and administer corporate IT SaaS systems such as Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, and others.

  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure seamless integration and operation of IT services.

  • Troubleshoot network and systems issues, implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.

  • Monitor network performance and security, making recommendations for improvements.

  • Participate in on-call rotation for 24/7/365 network operations

What you’ll have

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on-premise office network environments

  • Strong understanding of networking protocols and concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls

  • Background and experience in IT systems administration of SaaS solutions such as Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, Atlassian (Jira, JSM, Confluence)

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, AWS Certified Advanced Networking Specialty, Okta) are a plus
