We are seeking an exceptional Product Design Senior Manager to lead our design team and elevate the user experience of Brightflag's products. The ideal candidate will define and execute a comprehensive design strategy, ensuring that our products are user-centered, visually appealing, and aligned with our business goals. This role requires strong leadership, collaboration, and a deep understanding of customer needs. You will be both leading the product design function and a key member of one of our product teams.
What You Will Be Doing
- Define Design Vision and Strategy: Develop and communicate a clear design vision and strategy that aligns with Brightflag's mission and goals. Ensure that all design decisions are informed by strong customer insights and user research.
- Lead Design Team: Manage, mentor, and grow a team of designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative design environment. Encourage continuous learning and professional development within the team.
- Hands on as a Product Designer: You will be the product designer responsible for a key domain in Brightflag, partnering with a cross-functional team of product management and engineers.
- Design Process Leadership: Oversee the end-to-end design process, from concept creation to validation through to delivery, ensuring high-quality outcomes that meet user needs and business objectives.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of design into the product development lifecycle. Promote excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration.
- User-Centered Design: Conduct and guide user research activities to inform design decisions. Advocate for user experience best practices and ensure that all products are designed with accessibility and usability in mind.
- Design Standards and Guidelines: Establish and maintain design standards and guidelines that ensure consistency across Brightflag. Ensure that all design work adheres to these standards and aligns with Brightflag's brand identity.
- Thought and Practice Leadership: Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, technologies, and tools. Encourage experimentation and innovation within the design team.
- Performance Metrics and Feedback: Develop and track key performance metrics to assess the impact of design on user engagement and business outcomes. Use feedback from users and stakeholders to iterate and improve design solutions.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in the role, you need:
- 8+ years of experience in product design, with at least 2 years of experience in a design leadership role as a manager of a design team.
- A strong portfolio showcasing user-centred design solutions and experience with complex product design products, preferably in a B2B SaaS environment.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a diverse team of designers, with experience in mentoring and coaching.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate design vision and strategy effectively.
- History of successful collaboration with technical and commercial partners.
- Proficiency in user research methods and tools, using both qualitative and quantitative approaches.
- You should care very deeply about building the right thing using short iterations of discovery and delivery to validate direction.
