Senior International Payments & Investigations Analyst

About the Team & Business Line:
The purpose of the Senior International Payments & Investigations Analyst role is to efficiently support the team to meet our payments and client desk investigation requirements. The position requires the managing and resolving of internal & external stakeholder queries, the reconciliation of our multiple nostro accounts and creating/managing investigations with our various correspondent banks. You will also be required to assist the payments team with the timely processing of automated SWIFT and manual payments.
The completion of these functions should assist in the controlled and smooth running of the department in order to meet the service level agreement expected by Citco’s clients.
Your Role:
Monitor the repair queue in the core banking system and ensure payments are processed accurately within applicable currency cut-off times.
Input and approve manual payments, including single currency and FX payment instructions, in line with internal controls and approval requirements.
Perform signature verification and call-back controls on manual payment instructions where required.
Support payment investigations by raising and managing cases with correspondent banks and counterparties, including non-receipt of funds, beneficiary claims and payment amendment requests.
Create, input and approve investigation-related SWIFT messages and monitor incoming SWIFT message types, ensuring items are assigned to the relevant teams for action.
Complete cash reconciliations across multiple nostro and currency ledger accounts, investigating open breaks and ensuring ownership is assigned to the appropriate operational teams.
Report unresolved nostro reconciliation items and aged open breaks to the relevant operational teams and escalate where timelines or risk thresholds require management attention.
Liaise with KYC, AML and Compliance teams to support payment screening, regulatory queries and payment investigation requirements.
Monitor central team mailboxes and personal inboxes, ensuring stakeholder queries are handled accurately, efficiently and within expected timelines.
Liaise with Treasury Front Office, fund administrators, account managers and clients on late payment requests, escalations and issue resolution.
Carry out intra-day checks and control checklists to confirm completion of daily payment, investigation and reconciliation tasks within designated deadlines.
Prepare journals related to bank charges and support related reconciliation or investigation activity.
Identify process gaps, document findings and propose practical solutions to management.
Periodically review SOPs and work instructions to ensure processes remain accurate and up to date.
Escalate errors or control issues to management in a timely manner and assist with incident report write-ups where required.
Run and circulate end-of-day reports.
Support ad hoc tasks and projects as they arise.
About You:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in payments operations, with SWIFT and ISO 20022 knowledge considered a strong advantage.
Demonstrated experience approving payments in a controlled, deadline-driven environment.
Strong accuracy, numeracy and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively.
Work well under pressure, prioritise competing tasks and consistently meet strict deadlines.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining quality and control standards.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and comfortable using banking, payment or workflow systems.
Clear communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to work with internal teams, clients and banking partners.
Adaptable, proactive team player with a practical approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
Sound judgement to escalate issues, risks or delays to Supervisors or Management in a timely manner.
