The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Finance Manager to join our high‑performing Group Finance Team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for driving key strategic change initiatives across financial and sustainability reporting and process improvement for Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and other evolving sustainability disclosure requirements relevant to external financial reporting.
A core deliverable of the role is the end‑to‑end preparation for reporting under the CSRD, with the first mandatory report due for FY 2027. The role will coordinate all aspects of CSRD readiness, including preparation of the sustainability report, addressing policy and control gaps, ensuring high‑quality data collection, refreshing the Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) and managing the external assurance process.
This is a cross‑functional role requiring strong project management, technical sustainability knowledge, and the ability to collaborate with senior stakeholders across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the company’s CSRD readiness and delivery of the first FY2027 sustainability statement.
- Refresh the DMA in line with ESRS requirements and coordinate stakeholder engagement. Ensure alignment with regulatory updates and business changes.
- Update the CSRD Policy Gap Assessment and close identified gaps. Collaborate with applicable teams to draft new policies or update policies as required.
- Address outstanding actions from the Climate Risk Assessment (CRA) and embed climate risk management across the organisation.
- Oversee the collection of the ESRS data points in Workiva including the emissions data from the environment sustainability platform (Watershed). Ensure accuracy and completeness of data while strengthening data processes and controls, documentation and audit trails with business data owners.
- Draft the annual CSRD sustainability statement and coordinate contributions across all stakeholders.
- Work closely with external advisors to ensure technical compliance, resolve complex ESRS interpretation issues and support the delivery of key workstreams such as the DMA refresh, CRA actions and policy development/ revision.
- Establish robust governance, controls, documentation, and timelines to support accurate, auditable CSRD disclosures.
- Prepare for external assurance and oversee the audit process.
- Support broader sustainability reporting requirements connected to financial reporting (e.g. EU Taxonomy disclosures and other global sustainability reporting standards)
- Support other corporate reporting and finance transformation initiatives across the group as required.
Experience & Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- 8+ year post‑qualification experience in practice or industry
- Strong knowledge of CSRD, ESRS, and EU sustainability regulations with awareness of related sustainability disclosure frameworks impacting financial reporting
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, governance, and control frameworks with experience drafting sustainability or regulatory reports
- Exposure to Workiva or similar reporting platforms desirable
- Experience working with external auditors or assurance providers
- Proven experience managing complex, cross‑functional projects
- Excellent project management, senior stakeholder engagement and communication skills
