PFH Technology are currently looking for a Cloud Operations Transformation Lead to join our growing team on a 1-year contract.

Role Overview:

As a Cloud Operations Transformation Lead, you will lead the design and delivery of a cloud operations transformation programme for a large public sector customer. The role will focus on maturing the customer’s IT and cloud operations capability so that their environment is secure, resilient, well-governed, cost-optimised and aligned with industry best practice across Azure and AWS. You will work closely with senior customer stakeholders, PFH delivery teams and customer personnel to define, document and implement practical operating processes across critical cloud and IT operations domains.

Location: Remote with occasional visits to customer locations in Cork, Meath and Dublin

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of a cloud operations transformation programme for a large public sector customer, ensuring delivery against agreed scope, timelines, quality standards and outcomes.
  • Assess current-state IT and cloud operations practices and define a practical target operating model aligned to industry best practice, ITIL principles and recognised cloud adoption frameworks.
  • Design best-in-class operational processes across domains such as backup and recovery, patching, vulnerability management, security posture management, monitoring and observability, incident and change management, configuration management, licence management, service reporting and FinOps.
  • Produce high-quality customer-facing documentation, including policies, standards, procedures, operating manuals, governance artefacts, process flows and RACI models, as required.
  • Bring practical IT management and cloud operations knowledge to bear across Azure and AWS environments, helping the customer establish secure, resilient, supportable and cost-optimised operating practices.
  • Manage senior customer stakeholders on a day-to-day basis, building confidence through clear communication, structured engagement and visible progress against the programme plan.
  • Chair weekly programme status meetings, present progress updates, manage risks and issues, and ensure decisions and actions are tracked through to completion.
  • Lead a small blended delivery team of PFH/TerraAlto and customer personnel, assigning work, coordinating inputs and ensuring deliverables are completed to a high professional standard.
  • Support the customer in embedding operational governance, control assurance and continuous improvement practices that sustain the transformation after programme completion.

Candidate Profile:

  • Management experience in IT operations, cloud operations or service management
  • Experience of managing operational improvement or transformation initiatives in enterprise or public sector environments.
  • Strong understanding of IT operations management, risk control frameworks, governance, and service management.
  • Practical experience designing and improving operating processes for cloud or hybrid IT environments, preferably across Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services.
  • Demonstrable ability to translate best-practice frameworks into pragmatic policies, standards, procedures and day-to-day operating processes.
  • Solid project management capability, including planning, dependency management, stakeholder reporting and delivery governance.
  • Strong customer-facing consulting skills, with the ability to work confidently with senior stakeholders, technical teams, service owners and operational support teams.
  • Strong written communication skills, with proven ability to produce polished, structured and professional client-facing documentation.
  • Ability to operate independently, bring structure to ambiguous requirements and drive tangible delivery outcomes within aggressive timelines.
  • Certifications in ITIL, PRINCE2, PMP, Microsoft Azure or AWS would be advantageous.
