Job Description

We are looking for a Senior EMV and Card Brand L3 Certifications Consultant to work in our EU Locations

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior EMV and Card Brand L3 Certifications Consultant to join our dynamic team in the payment services industry. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth expertise in EMV standards, payment card brand certifications, and Level 3 (L3) testing and certifications for terminal and payment system integrations. This role requires a strong technical background, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and seamless payment processing solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage EMV Level 3 (L3) certifications for payment terminals, POS systems, and other payment solutions.

  • Collaborate with card schemes (e.g., Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Discover, etc.) to ensure compliance with brand-specific certification requirements.

  • Develop and execute L3 test plans, scripts, and scenarios for certification and debugging.

  • Develop and execute test plans, scripts, and scenarios for certification outside L3 Testing framework.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for certification bodies and card brands, ensuring efficient and timely resolution of issues.

  • Analyze and troubleshoot payment system integrations to ensure they meet EMV and card brand specifications.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members and stakeholders involved in the certification process.

  • Stay updated on industry regulations, EMVCo specifications, and card brand updates to adapt certification strategies.

  • Work closely with development, QA, and product teams to ensure payment solutions are fully compliant and market-ready.

  • Document certification processes, outcomes, and best practices for future reference and knowledge sharing.

  • Support client-facing teams with expertise on EMV, card brand certifications, and payment ecosystem requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in the payment services industry, with a focus on EMV certifications and card brand compliance.

  • Proven expertise in managing L3 certifications and a deep understanding of EMV standards and specifications.

  • Strong knowledge of payment networks, protocols (ISO 8583, ISO 20022), and transaction flows.

  • Familiarity with card brand certification tools and environments (e.g., ULBTT, M-TIP, CCRT etc.).

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex payment system issues.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams, clients, and certification bodies.

  • Experience with payment gateway integrations, terminal management systems, and related technologies is a plus.

  • Preferred Skills:

    • Certification in EMV or related standards (e.g., EMVCo, PCI DSS) is highly desirable.

    • Hands-on experience with scripting languages or testing tools for payment systems.

    • Familiarity with cloud-based payment platforms and emerging payment technologies.

The role offers a hybrid / flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.
