Your mission as a Senior Accountant (m/f/d)
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Senior Accountant to join our finance team. In this critical position, you will be in charge of all accounting topics of Appinio GmbH, operational and strategic. You will focus on ensuring the timely delivery of financial statements through hands-on operational work and guiding external stakeholders.
You will collaborate closely with our Director of Finance, leveraging technology to build a cutting edge, scalable global function. In addition, you will be responsible for preparing our monthly and annual reports and to lead the annual PwC audit in close collaboration with auditors and senior management.
You will be an ideal fit for this role if you have an excellent knowledge of all topics relevant to efficient accounting of a German SME. In addition, you are passionate about tech, love a fast-paced work environment, and are looking for a high-impact role with significant career growth potential. You also have the opportunity to play an integral role in the finance team of one of the fastest growing market research companies in Europe.
What you’ll be doing
- Maintaining Appinio GmbH financial ledgers, constantly finding new and more efficient processes to prepare them earlier and with less manual work
- Preparing and own the consolidated financial statements (in Lucanet)
- Performing month-end and year-end close processes together with external tax advisors
- Owning the GmbH audit process, currently in close collaboration with PwC
- Ensuring accounts payable and receivable are reconciled (supported by NetSuite and Payhawk)
- Constantly challenging the way ledgers are being prepared and what processes really adding value, with the overarching objective being a truly digital, scalable accounting function
- Working together with external advisors to ensure we are compliant on topics such as transfer pricing
You will thrive in this role if
- You have minimum 5 years of work experience as a Financial Accountant or a similar role - ideally in a start-up or other fast-paced environment
- You have minimum 2 years of experience with Netsuite, big plus if you were involved in the rollout of Netsuite before
- You constantly challenge the status quo and are not comfortable repeating the same tasks again and again if there is a better solution
- You completed an accounting apprenticeship, ideally with German additional qualification as "Finanzbuchhalter"
- You are very comfortable with German tax and accounting standards, knowledge in IFRS is a plus
- You have proven experience in Datev and MS Excel
- You are In-depth understanding of business accounting procedures
- You have a positive and helpful attitude, as well as a pragmatic approach
- You have German skills at C2 level as well as fluency in English
