About your role:

We are looking for a QA Program Lead to define and drive the quality strategy across the entire OmnipayNext program.

This is a technical leadership role with program-wide responsibility. You will lead through influence — setting standards, coaching QA engineers and developers across domain teams, and building the frameworks and governance that ensure consistency across a complex, multi-team program. You will be the recognised authority on QA within the program and the go-to person for quality strategy, risk assessment, and testing approach.

The balance is approximately 70% strategy, governance, and stakeholder engagement / 30% hands-on — you set direction and standards, but you also get into the detail: reviewing test automation code, designing cross-domain test scenarios, and validating that approaches are sound, not just documented.

What you’ll do:

• QA Strategy and Governance: Define and own the program QA strategy, aligned with business, regulatory, and delivery goals. Set testing standards across unit, integration, contract, end-to-end, performance, and security testing. Embed consistent quality gates in CI/CD and deployment workflows with Platform Engineering. Evolve the QA strategy as the program and platform scale.
• Hands-On Quality Engineering: Own cross-domain tests covering the full transaction lifecycle. Review test automation, schema contracts, and test designs, advising on coverage and approach. Maintain onboarding tests that confirm end-to-end processing before go-live. Support triage and root-cause analysis for cross-domain defects.
• QA Community Leadership: Lead, mentor, and upskill QA engineers and developers across the program. Run QA community sessions to share knowledge and solve common quality challenges. Identify QA skill gaps and address them through coaching, training, or hiring. Champion shift-left and built-in quality. Drive adoption of AI-assisted test generation, defect prediction, and coverage analysis.
• Client Onboarding and Migration Readiness: Define go-live criteria for parity, performance, data integrity, and operational readiness. Own onboarding tests that validate configuration and end-to-end processing. Ensure the approach is repeatable and scalable. Curate golden datasets for parity validation across configurations, transactions, and pricing.
• Non-Functional Quality: Lead performance, resilience, failover, and production-scale load testing. Define back-pressure, retry, and degradation expectations under stress. Validate disaster recovery and failover end-to-end across domains.
• Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting: Give program leaders clear, actionable visibility of quality status. Turn technical metrics into business indicators for go-live decisions. Escalate cross-domain quality risks before they affect milestones.
• Test Environments and Data Strategy: Define the AWS EKS test environment strategy with Platform Engineering. Ensure reproducible cross-domain testing with PCI-DSS-compliant test data.

What you’ll need to have:

• Program-level QA leadership across multiple engineering teams — setting strategy and standards.
• Deep knowledge of modern QA practices — test automation strategies, shift-left testing, continuous testing in CI/CD, contract testing, and quality engineering principles.
• Financial services industry experience — payments, acquiring, issuing, or banking.
• Cloud-native and event-driven architecture experience — microservices, asynchronous event processing (Kafka, message brokers), eventual consistency, schema evolution, and distributed system failure modes.
• Excellent communication skills — able to engage credibly with engineers, architects, product owners, and senior leadership.
• Technical credibility — able to read event schemas, understand data models, review test automation code, and assess whether a testing approach is sound.

What would be great to have:

• Regulated environment experience (PCI-DSS, SOX, or equivalent).
• Migration or platform replacement validation — proving a new system matches an old one at scale, including defining equivalence criteria and comparison approaches.
• Experience leveraging AI in QA workflows — using AI-assisted tools for test generation, code review, defect analysis, or standards enforcement.
