The Role – 12-month Fixed Term Nearly/ Newly Qualified Actuary

Reporting to the Actuarial Manager as part of the close-knit Actuarial team, the role involves working with large players in the insurance sector. The role will strengthen your risk management, consulting and client management skills as well as testing your communication and IT skills. In this role you, will gain an in-depth knowledge of investment fund administration as well as an understanding of pricing and trading.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse business performance of open and closed portfolios across multiple clients and systems/databases.

  • Create and enhance Management Information reports to share with the wider business and clients.

  • Manage various data sources, cleaning and shaping the available information to glean useful business insight.

  • Generate, review and issue monthly reports across clients.

  • Analyse business processes, input into process design and assist with deployment of more efficient and automated operating models to reduce manual intervention and operating risks for both FNZ EU DAC and clients.

  • Work with prospective clients to translate vision and strategy into clear product or other requirements.

  • Provide Actuarial input on design and drive implementation of new product/fund/features for our clients on our life and fund administration systems.

  • Support client onboarding (including migrations), request for proposals, estimation and input into commercial offerings.

  • Build and maintain good relationships with FNZ EU DAC’s clients at all levels.

  • Work closely with FNZ EU DAC’s Strategy, Commercial, IT and Operations divisions.

  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of our clients’ products and processes.

  • Apply awareness of Regulation and Regulatory changes in the EU Insurance and Investment markets.

  • Set-up automated tools to assist reporting and portfolio analysis.

  • Work with the wider Operations team on ad-hoc analytical/data science projects.

The Person

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and knowledge:

  • Nearly/ Newly qualified actuary with a minimum 3 years’ experience working in the Life Insurance or Pensions industry. Candidate can be either actively pursuing or no longer studying the actuarial exams.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in client facing work.

  • Experience of, or a strong interest in MS Excel, SQL, Python, Data Analytics, Robotics & Automation.

  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise quickly in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Ability to work in a team with commitment to quality.

  • Keen commercial awareness and a strong customer focus.

  • Strong attention to detail.
