Overview

PIMCO is seeking a Portfolio Associate – FX to join our growing FX Desk in Dublin. This role will support FX portfolio management activity across G10 and EM currencies, ensuring the firm’s global FX book is aligned, risk‑controlled, and executed with precision. The successful candidate will work closely with Portfolio Managers and collaborate across Trading, Operations, Technology, and other investment teams to support all aspects of FX exposure management, trade lifecycle oversight, and currency‑related risk processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support Portfolio Managers on PIMCO’s FX Desk as the primary resource for all FX‑related matters across G10 and EM currencies.

  • Monitor and track FX exposures within Global Portfolios, Offshore vehicles, and Overlay strategies, ensuring accuracy and timely escalation of discrepancies.

  • Become a subject‑matter expert in currency‑related legal guidelines, applying rules daily to ensure portfolios remain within all internal and client‑mandated limits.

  • Participate in account opening, closing, and transition meetings, advising on optimal FX hedging and currency management considerations.

  • Conduct daily FX risk management, including hedging oversight, rebalancing, and exception monitoring.

  • Develop deep expertise in FX markets, including conventions and mechanics across spot, forwards, and OTC options from trade capture through settlement.

  • Partner with Technology teams to enhance currency‑related workflows, improve controls, optimize processes, and ensure systems remain accurate and up to date.

  • Build strong internal relationships with Trading, Compliance, Operations, and Analytics teams to ensure alignment of FX positions and seamless execution.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Finance related field preferred, with a strong interest in the asset management industry.

  • Approx. 1–3 years relevant experience, ideally within FX trade support, FX operations, or a related investment function.

  • Strong knowledge base in Foreign Exchange markets, with exposure to G10 and EM currencies preferred.

  • Advanced Excel skills required; experience with Python, SQL, VBA, and Bloomberg highly advantageous.

  • Proven ability to operate with precision in a fast‑paced environment, demonstrating strong attention to detail and risk awareness.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively.

  • Strong analytical mindset with a track record of timely problem solving.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong cross‑functional relationships.

  • Collaborative, self‑motivated team player with a high degree of ownership and initiative.

  • Well‑organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing tasks through to completion with minimal oversight.
