Mission 

As a highly motivated and experienced business development professional with strong agronomic knowledge, you’ll be responsible for leading and executing Vive’s commercial expansion in the Canadian market. The National Business Development Manager is responsible for building Vive’s Canadian business from the ground up, executing the go-to-market strategy, establishing key partnership, and driving profitable growth across the distribution and grower channels.


Interacts with:

  • Internally – Sales, Marketing, Agronomy, Product Management, Regulatory, Corporate Development, Finance, Product Development, Research, QA/QC, Legal
  • Externally – 3rd party customers and industry members, channel members, Outside Counsel, CROs, Trade Associations (CLA, BPIA, IBMA, etc.)

Accountability - in your first 12 months, you will...

  • Business Development - develop in- and out-licensing relationships to help Vive achieve our strategic goals, with an emphasis on biologicals, new complimentary innovation and/technologies.
  • M&A Strategy - based on strategic imperatives, assemble and access potential candidates for potential M&A activities.
  • Industry Collaboration - regularly attend in-person or virtual industry trade associate meetings and workshops to foster relationship building and market intelligence.
  • Account/Project Management - execute sales plan. Maintain and keep current items such as account notes, legal documentation, and product design information.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Market & Product Expansion
    • Co-develop and execute new crop protection programs that drive growth and differentiate Vive’s product portfolio within key crops.
    • Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities by working closely with ley channel partners and leveraging your deep market knowledge.
    • Operate as a builder and entrepreneur, laying the foundation for Vive’s future Canadian commercial organization.
    • Contribute to the development of repeatable, predictable, and scalable business systems and sales processes (e.g., CRM, performance tracking).
    • Represent Vive at industry events, conferences, and trade associations to strengthen visibility and thought leadership.
  • COI Influencer & Agronomic Leadership
    • Serve as a primary spokesperson for Vive in Canada, representing our products, technology, and agronomic expertise.
    • Provide technical support, training, and education to channel partners and growers, highlighting the benefits of Vive’s precision chemistry solutions.
    • Collaborate closely with R&D, Marketing, and Field Development teams to align commercial priorities, technical messaging, and field performance data.
    • Oversee Vive’s annual field trial program, ensuring timely completion of data, photos, and testimonials that support sales and marketing efforts.
  • Business Planning & Sales Management
    • Support in the development and execution of comprehensive go-to-market business plans for distribution, retail, and grower partners, including sales forecasts and new market opportunities.
    • Build and maintain deep, strategic relationships with COIs, key distributors, ag retailers, and influential growers.
    • Champion Vive’s brand and value proposition throughout the channel to create demand pull-through at the grower level.

 

Skills & Experiences 

  • Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in Canadian agriculture, with a track record of success in sales, business development, and/or agronomy.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, managing, and selling to ag retailers, distributors, and key growers across Canada.
  • Proven success in launching and commercializing new agricultural products or technologies.
  • Familiarity with liquid fertilizer, biologicals, and emerging precision ag technologies.
  • Understanding of Canadian crop protection regulations (PMRA) and compliance requirements.
  • Deep agronomic expertise across major Canadian crops and regions.
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen—able to develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and ROI analyses.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills; ability to influence and build credibility with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficient in CRM and digital sales tools (Salesforce or equivalent).
  • Highly entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and resilient with a bias for action and innovation.
  • Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills, effective within cross-functional, fast-paced teams.

Requirements

  • Valid passport. Must have the ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Must be willing/able to travel up to 40%
