Enterprise Data Accessibility (EDA) program of Data & Analytics department under Services Org, looking for Manager in Software Engineering to lead, mentor and coach software engineering teams to build, enhance and deliver internal or market-facing Product, and Platforms. Someone who combines deep technical experience with great people management skills and can help elevate our teams and our approach to engineering.
We are looking for a candidate that has proven experience in coding, architecture leadership, and leading engineers in a fast-paced environment. This position is a mix of hands-on development, process engineering, and management responsibilities with a strong emphasis on technical leadership. The candidate will work with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders in developing product platforms. The ideal candidate should be passionate about design thinking, customer experience journey, highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset.

Role:
• Forefront of working on the Services/APIs that power our business as we build the near real time data access solution to drive our customer experience to the next level.
• Perform code reviews, retrospectives, and manage the acceptance of Pull Requests using Git.
• Coach your team in engineering best practices, including 12-factor app design.
• Recruit and hire the right talent, always bringing in someone better than at least half the individuals in the role.
• Emulate and drive Mastercard Way behaviors through their behavior, recognitions, coaching, and employee engagement
• Provide strategic thinking and leadership related to a wide range of applications and systems, or software-development methodologies
• Benchmark and drive engineering productivity, quality, and technology policy compliance in the areas of ownership
• Ability to thrive under pressure and function effectively in a fast-paced work environment
• Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels of management.
All about you:
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations.
• Have knowledge and demonstrate experience in - Enterprise level asynchronous/event-based communication and integration. Microservices topologies, including operational concerns such as resiliency, observability, discovery and routing, etc.
• Hands on experience in designing complex, highly scalable and performing microservices in a distributed environment and to have deep technical skills in the following areas: Java 11 and above, Spring boot, Spring Batch, OpenAPI (Swagger), SQL, CI/CD, Docker, Serverless technologies.
• Able to independently come-up with different approaches and solution, prepare high-level and low-level designs and create documentation.
• Approaches to Architecture governance and high-volume data access and evolution in practice.
• Good to have knowledge of any cloud technology (Azure, AWS, PCF)
• Plan, design and develop technical solutions and alternatives to meet business requirements in adherence with MasterCard standards, processes and best practices.
• Accountable for full systems development life cycle including creating design and other technical artifacts including but not limited to detailed test strategy/test design, performance benchmarking, release rollout and deployment plans, contingency/back-out plans, feasibility study, cost and time analysis and detailed estimates.
• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
• Experience in recruiting, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers.
• Responsible for the analysis, design, development, and delivery of software solutions.
• 12+ years of experience in Java development, out of which 2-3 years of experience in designing platform solution.
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Demonstrated ability to balance short term tactical decisions with long term strategy objectives
• Experience in a technical leadership role either as a people manager or technical lead within an agile team structure.
