We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Major Projects - Programme Manager / Project Director to join our dynamic engineering consultancy team in Ireland. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of complex infrastructure projects with a focus in water sector, ensuring that they meet client expectations and are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The candidate will work within our Programme Delivery Practice to lead teams in deliver of the large-scale infrastructure projects in Ireland. The immediate task for the successful candidate will be in the role of Programme Delivery Manager for the Irish Water Supply Project - a 170km pipeline and treatment plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of water engineering projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • PMO Management: Manage the PMO Manager and team across large individual projects or across a programme of projects.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Financial Oversight: Monitor project budgets, control expenditures, and ensure financial targets are achieved.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for programme delivery, aligning with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Role Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Third level qualification (Level 8 or equivalent) in engineering, project management, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) and chartership (Engineers Ireland or equivalent professional institution) are highly desirable.
  • Experience: Experience in delivery of large-scale infrastructure such as water, transport or utilities, proven experience in a project or programme delivery management role, responsible for delivery of large, complex, infrastructure projects, Experience in the water sector.
  • Skills: Exceptional leadership, communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. Proficiency in administering NEC contracts, and utilising project management software and tools.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of water engineering principles, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
