We are hiring for one of our ecosystem projects. The company is Asia's leading web3 venture studio.

We are looking for a Legal Counsel to join the team. The Legal Counsel will be responsible for developing and implementing legal & compliance policies and procedures, conducting regular audits, and providing guidance to the company's employees on compliance matters, ensuring that the company operates in compliance with all relevant regulations and legal requirements in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the sole in-house lawyer for the company, providing legal advice to executives and the management team.
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal contracts and agreements.
  • Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures like creating and maintaining compliance policies and procedures that align with the regulatory requirements of the crypto industry and maintain and update policies and procedures.
  • Identify potential legal risks to the organisation and devise proactive strategies to mitigate them.
  • Investigate and respond to complaints regarding alleged violations of rules, policies, and procedures, and recommend suitable solutions.
  • Stay updated with changes in laws that impact the company and provide timely updates and strategic advice on the potential impact of such changes. 

Requirements

  • Law degree holder (LLB/ J.D.) qualified, and/or other major common law jurisdictions
  • Qualified lawyer with 3-5 years PQE in a reputable international law firm or a top local law firm
  • Experience in advising on products and related legal and regulatory matters
  • Strong understanding of payments regulation, fund flows, and licensing frameworks.
  • Experienced in payment, fintech, EMI/PSP, or financial services compliance or regulatory advisory. 
  • Sound judgment on business practices, internal and external stakeholder relationship management and reputational risk
  • Business driven and capable to facilitate business by providing solutions
  • Business proficiency in spoken and written English and Mandarin
  • Experience in multi-jurisdiction environments is a strong plus.
