Assists Supervisor in maintaining a high-quality standard by keeping him/her informed on the condition of all assigned areas and by assisting with training, supervising and motivating environmental services staff.Job Description:
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Exemplifies Winchester Hospital’s values and Service Excellence standards. Commits to making every encounter with our patients, patients’ family, co-workers, physicians and other customers the best that it can be.
2. Complies with all Winchester Hospital policies and the Code of Business Conduct. Maintains current tuberculosis testing. Takes responsibility for own safety as well as the safety of patients, patients’ family, co-workers, physicians and other customers.
3. Assures hospital and department policies and procedures are followed by all staff.
4. Accepts responsibility for a limited area, shift or task as assigned
5. Assumes responsibility for work area in the absence of the Supervisor
6. Assumes responsibility for the quality standard in his/her area
7. Assures all records, reports, and other required documentation is maintained.
8. Assures staff has adequate supplies to perform job duties.
9. Schedules project work and assigns to staff.
10. Participates in the following:
- Mandatory training requirements as per hospital/department policy
- Continuing education/inservices to enhance knowledge
- Staff meetings
- Performance improvement initiatives
- Orientation of new staff, students, and/or volunteers
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. High School Diploma
2. At least one year of experience in Environmental Services, preferably in health care environment.
3. Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
4. Basic computer knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel and Meditech.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND VISUAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
2. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
3. Ability to push and pull beds, food carts, housekeeping carts, linen hampers, stretchers, and patient room furniture throughout the work shift.
4. Ability to lift and carry heavy loads such as full trash and linen bags throughout the work shift.
5. Ability to frequently bend, stoop, stretch, stand and walk.
6. Ability to operate cleaning equipment.
OSHA EXPOSURE: Job does involve possible exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
1. Reports to Manager of Environmental.
