What you'll do as a Lead Commercial Analyst:
- The Lead Commercial Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the Head of Trading and Trading Squad peers to shape decisions and drive profitable growth across multiple partners and markets.
- Working within a cross-functional, self-organised squad, the role translates complex performance into a clear narrative, communicates key trends and risks, and ensures stakeholders have decision-grade insights and measurable actions.
- The role owns the squad’s commercial analytics roadmap and prioritisation, balancing short-term opportunities with longer-term capability building, aligned to OKRs and broader business goals.
- As a lead within the Trading Analyst Group, the role raises the bar through coaching and peer review, and ensures learnings are captured, shared, and embedded through reusable assets and best practices across the organisation.
- The role will involve project work and providing analytical support for various initiatives, ensuring that data-driven strategies are consistently aligned with the organisation's broader goals.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Lead end-to-end commercial analytics: frame ambiguous problems, choose methodology, execute analysis, and deliver recommendations with minimal supervision.
- Manage and align multiple stakeholders; translate complex analysis into clear recommendations and drive decisions.
- Prepare and present exec-quality partner facing performance materials; interpret partner business needs, contextualise key performance drivers, align on KPIs and targets, and convert insights into agreed actions.
- Partner with squad peers to shape pricing and growth strategies; identify and recommend appropriate levers, define testing plans and quantify impact.
- Own regular P&L performance deep dives, including drivers, risks/opportunities, and scenario/sensitivity modelling.
- Lead scalable analytical projects (reusable dashboards and models) and build self-serve capabilities.
- Drive automation of recurring processes (including AI where appropriate) with clear evaluation criteria and governance
What you'll bring to the team:
- 5+ years experience in a commercial analyst or similar role
- Prior experience in a fast-paced environment such as management consulting or a startup.
- 3rd level degree in IT/Mathematics/Statistics/Economics or related field.
- Advanced SQL capabilities.
- Advanced Excel and strong analytical modelling skills.
- Dashboarding; experience using data visualisation tools such as Tableau to create interactive dashboards.
- Commercial & financial acumen: Strong understanding of P&L drivers, unit economics, and performance levers
- Problem framing & structured thinking: Turns ambiguous questions into clear hypotheses, analytical plans, and decision points; focuses on what will change an outcome.
- Stakeholder influence & decision leadership: Aligns multiple stakeholders, manages expectations, and drives decisions through evidence, narrative, and facilitation.
- Communication: Strong written + verbal storytelling; can produce clear narratives and present recommendations to senior stakeholders and external partners
- Technical analytics excellence: Advanced SQL; strong BI/dashboard design; solid modelling in Excel; builds scalable, reusable analysis.
- Teamwork & collaboration - Works collaboratively across the Trading Squad and wider analyst community; shares context, contributes to collective problem-solving, supports others, and builds strong relationships to deliver better outcomes.
