We do business in 180+ countries operating at a scale few can match. From deploying advanced AI to helping shape global markets, we build systems that matter. Help solve real-world challenges that touch millions and get the opportunity to build the future of finance with Citi Tech.

We are looking for a talented and driven Java DevOps Engineer to join the Citi Integrated Digital Asset Platform (CIDAP) team. In this role, you will play a key part in building, hardening, maintaining, and continuously improving the Technology Infrastructure that underpins mission-critical financial systems operating at a global scale. You will collaborate closely with the CIDAP Engineering Team and a broad network of Citi Infrastructure Partners, contributing to the full lifecycle of platform operations — from design and implementation through to advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution. Your work will be central to platform stabilization, performance optimization, and ensuring the highest levels of system reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Design, architect, and deliver seamless integrations between the CIDAP platform and key Citi Infrastructure components, driving platform scalability and capability enhancements to meet both current operational needs and future business demands.
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts for system outages, performance degradations, and application failures in lower and production environments, proactively surfacing emerging risks and drive timely, well-defined remediation strategies to minimize impact and prevent recurrence.
  • Proactively identify, drive the automation of infrastructure build and configuration through approved tooling, reduce manual overhead and ensure greater consistency, repeatability, and reliability across all environments.
  • Conduct security vulnerability assessments and Infrastructure risk reviews across CIDAP services, deliver actionable mitigation recommendations and leading the implementation of robust remediation measures to strengthen the platform's overall security posture.
  • Build and maintain deep, cross-functional knowledge of how key Business domains, including architecture and infrastructure interconnect and collaborate to drive overarching business objectives, enabling more informed decision-making and delivering well-aligned technical solutions.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously refine internal knowledge base articles, FAQ guides, and technical documentation, ensuring teams have access to accurate, up to date reference material to environment setup, configuration, and day-to-day operational workflows.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Significant hands-on experience in a DevOps Engineering capacity or an equivalent software engineering role, with a proven track record of delivering complex infrastructure and platform solutions.
  • Deep expertise in Red Hat OpenShift administration, with comprehensive knowledge of Docker for building, optimizing, and managing container images, and strong proficiency in YAML based configuration management.
  • Advanced scripting and automation capabilities, with the ability to design and implement robust, scalable automation workflows.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of microservices architecture, including security considerations, design patterns, and implementation best practices.
  • Extensive experience with GitHub, including branching strategies, merging workflows, and version control best practices.
  • Solid experience in Oracle database administration and seamless application integration.
  • Proven ability in configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Load Balancers for high-availability environments.
  • Hands-on experience with alerting, monitoring, and observability tooling, including OTEL, Google Cloud Observability, Grafana, Kibana, and Splunk.
  • Knowledge in messaging and event streaming platform – Kafka
  • Knowledge in managing Certificates, Secrets, Keys and access controls.
  • Experience in network connectivity and troubleshooting including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, ports, firewall, proxies and routing.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences; strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude with a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
