About your role: 
 
We’re seeking a Tax Manager to support the Tax Director – International and Indirect and Bord Gáis Energy and other Ireland Financial Controllers in managing taxes in Ireland.

You’ll be responsible for the following:

  • You’ll be the lead tax business partner for Bord Gáis Energy and Centrica’s other businesses in Ireland, providing Irish tax advice across all taxes.
  • Prepare tax returns for all Irish businesses including corporate income tax, VAT and Carbon Tax with review support from external advisers
  • Manage the preparation of local transfer pricing files for the Irish businesses Bord Gais and ensure global transfer pricing documentation prepared by the Tax Advisor – International is compliant for Ireland
  • Complete self review work under the Co-operative Compliance Framework Ensure a robust control framework is established and maintained for all taxes, maintaining governance and risk documentation in Ireland
  • Work with the Tax Transformation Manager, Finance colleagues, Centrica Tax colleagues and other Centrica teams to deliver continuous process improvement
  • Build and maintain a strong working relationship with Revenue Ireland and external advisers
  • Ensure all budget and legislative changes are understood and implemented across all systems in Ireland
  • Deliver training or other support to ensure the Irish businesses remain compliant with all tax obligations

Here's what we’re looking for: 

  • Extensive experience and general technical knowledge of Irish taxation and a working knowledge of transfer pricing and international tax
  • Experience acting as tax business partner
  • Ability to research tax technical issues independently
  • Tax qualification and tax work experience in-house is strongly preferred. By exception, an accounting qualification and/or relevant tax technical or reporting experience can be considered.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills enabling efficient interaction with Finance and other stakeholders (internal and external) and effective collaboration within and outside the Tax team
  • Proven ability to take initiative/ownership of the issue and to achieve results under pressure and with imperfect/incomplete information
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
