Who we are:

At TrueLayer, we’re building the future of payments. We’re on a mission to take on outdated payment methods with a solution designed for today’s online, on-demand economy. By removing friction at the heart of commerce — the payment — we’re making it faster, safer, and smarter for everyone.

To date, we’ve raised $300 million from world-renowned investors including Stripe, Tiger Global, Addition, and Tencent. With offices in London, Milan, and Dublin, we’re trusted by industry leaders like RyanAir and Just Eat Takeaway. But this is just the beginning.

We’re reimagining how the world pays, invests, shops, and saves. We’re transforming payments for industries like e-Commerce and iGaming, redefining what’s possible with technology and innovation. Now, we’re looking for people who are ready to help us build a brand that changes an industry.

Description

We’re looking for a Financial Crime Investigations Analyst to join TrueLayer’s Investigations team. This role sits at the heart of our first line of defence against financial crime, and is perfect for someone with foundational experience in AML and fraud investigations who’s ready to take on more ownership and analytical responsibility.

You'll work across transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, fraud investigations, and support in shaping and enhancing our financial crime systems. You’ll collaborate closely with experienced team members, cross-functional stakeholders, and external bodies such as law enforcement to identify, investigate, and escalate suspicious activity.

What we expect from you as an Investigation Analyst:
  • Review transaction monitoring alerts to identify suspicious or potentially fraudulent activity across a variety of products and customer types.
  • Conduct investigations into AML and fraud alerts, documenting findings with clear risk-based recommendations.
  • Review and assess sanctions screening hits, escalating true positives where needed.
  • Contribute to the refinement of transaction monitoring scenarios, helping to reduce false positives and improve detection accuracy.
  • Support the submission of SARs to the relevant Financial Intelligence Units, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Identify and communicate emerging financial crime typologies or trends, supporting the team in adapting monitoring approaches.
  • Respond to requests from law enforcement, preparing and reviewing information before submission.
  • Help assess the financial crime risks of new products and services and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Work towards KPIs and support in collating data for internal MI and regulatory reporting.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing feedback on systems, processes, and alerts handling.
Who you are:
  • Experience working in a financial crime prevention role, such as AML, fraud investigations, or transaction monitoring.
  • Understanding of AML/CTF laws, sanctions frameworks, and common typologies.
  • Familiarity with a variety of legal entity types and customer profiles.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and draw conclusions.
  • Excellent written communication, with the ability to articulate investigative findings clearly and concisely.
  • Comfortable with cross-functional collaboration and able to escalate appropriately when needed.
  • Curious, proactive, and eager to grow your expertise in a fast-paced environment.
We would be really excited if you have:
  • Experience conducting transaction monitoring reviews in high-risk industries such as eCommerce or iGaming.
  • Familiarity with SAR drafting and submission.
Understanding of UK and EU AML/CTF legislation (global knowledge is a bonus).
  • Exposure to SQL, Excel, or data visualisation tools for investigation or reporting purposes.
A recognised financial crime or AML qualification.
Experience in a fintech, technology firm, or regulated financial services environment.
