Job Description

This role will give an outstanding and unique career opportunity to join an exciting and fast growing value fashion retail group. The role is based in our impressive International Headquarters in the heart of Dublin city. The role reports into the Head of Internal Audit. The Internal Audit team is part of the Finance function and services the Primark business as a whole.

The Internal Audit Manager is responsible for planning, leading, and delivering risk‑based internal audits across the business. The role provides independent assurance on the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and controls, with a strong focus on store operations, retail processes, and customer‑facing activities. The Internal Audit Manager is accountable for the effective management of audit team members, end‑to‑end execution of audits – including those of team members, delivery of high‑quality reports, and upon request the completion of complex ad hoc reviews.

The position by its nature offers unique exposure to our high energy business, its operations and people. The role requires limited travel.

Key Responsibilities:

Audit Delivery

  • Plan and deliver end to end audits across Primark operations, for team members and own audits.
  • Perform robust risk assessments and define clear audit scopes and objectives.
  • Independently lead audit fieldwork, supervise team members, and ensure evidence‑based conclusions.
  • Prepare clear, insightful audit reports with practical, risk‑focused recommendations.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the primary audit contact for management within assigned business areas.
  • Hold opening, closing, and issue‑clearance meetings with management.
  • Build effective working relationships while maintaining audit independence.
  • Preparation of timely and relevant KPI reporting by business area.

People & Team Leadership

  • Lead and coach auditors on individual engagements.
  • Review workpapers and outputs to ensure compliance with methodology and quality standards.
  • Support the development of audit team capability through direct people management.

Issue Tracking & Follow‑up

  • Track management action plans and validate remediation of audit findings.
  • Meet with key stakeholders on a continuous basis to ensure timely updates on issue tracking.
  • Provide assurance on closure of high‑risk findings.
  • Escalate delays or concerns to Senior Management as appropriate.

Other

  • As part of the wider global ABF Internal Audit team, build relationships with IA colleagues and support and participate in Group initiatives and projects as required.
  • Involvement in thematic or emerging risk audits across the ABF group.
  • Preparation of elements of Audit Committee and exec management reporting packs as requested.
  • Working with Head of Internal Audit, contribute to the annual audit planning process for Primark.

 

Qualifications

 

  • ACA or ACCA qualification.
  • Experience including people and project management.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the fields of audit, assurance and/or risk management
  • A solid knowledge and understanding of risk-based auditing standards and techniques as well as general accounting methods, principles and practices.
  • Ability to evaluate and determine the adequacy of controls by analysing business risks.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • A working knowledge of business processes, key risks, operational and financial controls in retail / fashion / FMCGs.
  • Big 4 / Top 10 professional services experience.
  • Experience of data analytics.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with different stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, strong organisational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong focus on delivery with the ability to complete work requirements on a timely basis.
