Head of Networks

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Networks to lead our network infrastructure strategy and drive the transformation of our network systems. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the modernisation and optimisation of our network to support cloud-based solutions and business growth. You will lead a talented team of network engineers and collaborate closely with other IT departments to ensure the seamless integration of cutting-edge technologies.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in networking, cloud change, and infrastructure, with a strong focus on delivering secure, scalable and reliable network solutions. This role is based in Dublin with a hybrid working model, requiring 2 days per week in the office.

Please note this role operates in a hybrid model with candidates expected to be able and willing to work from our customer's Dublin office twice per week.

Required Skills & Experience

• Leadership: Proven experience leading large network teams and managing complex projects within sizable organisations
• Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of modern networking solutions, including SD-WAN, cloud networking, and network security
• Cloud Proficiency: Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure networking services
• Security Acumen: Expertise in deploying and managing Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco security technologies
• Automation Skills: Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly Terraform
• Monitoring Tools: Experience with Opsgenie, Prometheus, and ServiceNow for network monitoring and incident management
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, Palo Alto Networks certifications, AWS, or Azure certifications are highly desirable
• Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with technical teams, business stakeholders, and vendors

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive network strategy aligned with the client's cloud-first approach and business objectives
• Team Management: Lead and mentor a high-performing team of network engineers and operations staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with Project Managers, Delivery Managers, and senior stakeholders to ensure network solutions meet organisational needs
• Network Modernisation: Oversee the transformation of legacy network platforms, facilitating migration to modern, cloud-based infrastructures
• Technology Implementation: Ensure the deployment and optimisation of networking technologies, including:
  • SD-WAN: Implement and manage Software-Defined Wide Area Networks to enhance performance and reliability
  • Cloud Networking: Design and maintain network architectures within AWS and Azure environments
  • Security: Deploy and manage Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco technologies to ensure robust network security
  • Infrastructure as Code: Utilise tools like Terraform for automated network provisioning and management
• Monitoring and Incident Management: Leverage monitoring tools such as Opsgenie and integrate with ticketing systems like ServiceNow to proactively manage network performance and incidents
• Compliance and Best Practices: Ensure all network systems comply with relevant security standards and regulations, including GDPR, and adhere to industry best practices
• Vendor Management: Manage relationships with third-party service providers and vendors to support network upgrades and troubleshooting
