Job Description

The role involves leading and leveraging a diverse team of Business Marketing Partners to develop and implement marketing and communication strategies that drive demand for the Country brand while maintaining its reputation and integrity. This includes representing a moderately complex Marketing & Communication function in Country Exco, Business Line Exco/Stratco, or relevant Africa Regions Govco.

Additionally, the role involves planning, developing, and executing communication across various marketing channels (both paper-based and digital) across Standard Bank Offshore (SBO) jurisdictions, ensuring alignment with the broader Group strategy. This ensures a coordinated approach to communication with clients, vendors, and agencies, enabling the effective functioning of the marketing and communication team within SBO.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Business Commerce or related studies (required)
  • Masters Degree in Marketing, Business Commerce or related studies (preferred)


Experience Required
Marketing & Communications Business Partnering

  • 8-10 years effective management of a brand, ensuring the best public image of the organisation is seen.
  • B2C and B2B experience, experience in multiple industries and marketing in different African or other international countries would be advantageous, leading a team of marketing specialists to achieve the strategic objectives and goals of the Business.
  • Experience in managing vendors as well as dealing with high level executives and managing communications. Previous experience in a Public Relations (PR) space would be preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Drive alignment of marketing activities across Business Units, to optimise cross-sell opportunities and, in so doing, strengthen relationships.
  • Manage or leverage the team of marketing professionals by developing and guiding them on the delivery of M&C initiatives, ensuring the delivery of the marketing and communication strategy. Review the M&C talent/resource requirements across country.
  • Manage, coach and guide individuals within the marketing team by creating career advancing opportunities to guarantee the relevant and future-ready capability across all segment marketing.
  • Monitor, measure and evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns in delivering the Country’s business target as well as M&C goals.
  • Drive and oversee the provision of insights around the competitive positioning of the brand in country and develop action plans to differentiate offerings through marketing communication in (customer) segments.
  • Track competitors' activity by monitoring the market for any changes and fluctuations in their image and marketing tactics to ensure any potential risk to the image of SBG can be alleviated proactively.
  • Create and maintain communication plans whilst managing vendors and agencies within and across Offshore portfolios (SBO) in order to ensure that all deadlines, marketing campaign standards and approvals are obtained thereby ensuring client satisfaction and favourable image in the market.
  • Keep the Internal Communications Strategy current by ensuring that all planned changes are aligned to the overall Group Internal Communication strategy as well as the Banks Policy, Standards and Guidelines.
