About the role

In the role of German Copywriter, you will report to the Sr. Manager of Copywriting, Home Entertainment and work up to 20 hours per week.

This is a remote position, and we are considering applicants who are based in Germany.

The writer will join a global creative team to write and edit text used on home video packaging. This includes summaries, taglines, and booklets. You will have temporary guidance from an Editorial team in an adjacent department, and eventually become the sole Copywriter for German home video packaging. An English-speaking manager based in the U.S. will oversee the writer's work to ensure it meets quality standards across global products and is delivered on time.

Core Areas of Responsibility
  • Write show synopses and taglines
  • Make edits and explain creative choices when requested by the Copy Manager, Brand Managers, Licensors, and others
  • Translate and re-interpret summaries from English to suit a German-speaking audience
  • Edit booklet text including interviews and character biographies translated from Japanese to German (Japanese translations are provided)
  • Watch the content and research fan reception
  • Attend status meetings and participate in brainstorm sessions
About You

We get excited about candidates, like you, because...

  • You're a German language copywriter with at least 3 years of writing experience, preferably in entertainment or another creative industry
  • Your command of the German language is native
  • Your command of the English language is B2 level or higher. You can participate in meetings with English speakers. You understand nuanced meanings in written English and can reinterpret it in a way that appeals to German audiences
  • You're familiar with the language of German pop culture and modern anime fans
  • You're creative and innovative, working with Designers to plan ideas for art books and bonus items
  • Your work days can operate on a later start and end time to accommodate weekly meetings with international teams
  • You manage your workload well and set deadlines for yourself based on larger team deadlines
  • Your workflow can adapt to use project management and chat software (we use Wrike, Airtable, and Slack)
  • You follow style guides and adapt to requirements that vary across many clients (Licensors)
  • German proofreading skills are a plus but not required
  • Familiarity with the Japanese language is a plus but not required
About the Team

We are looking for a Copywriter to join our well-established team, focusing on writing German packaging and booklets for our home video business. Your work will be collaborative, involving close coordination with creative team members such as Designers, Proofreaders, Project Managers, and other key stakeholders. Your success will be measured by your ability to produce, high-quality copy, meet project deadlines, and contribute to the release of products, thereby driving revenue growth. Within the first 90 days, you will integrate seamlessly into the team, understand project workflows, and begin delivering impactful German writing that meets our business objectives.
