Job Description

What You’ll Do as an External Communications Manager (12-month FTC)

In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:

  • Lead and develop integrated communications for key strategic and corporate initiatives, ensuring a strong global and local perspective.
  • Plan and deliver communications for major business announcements, campaigns, store openings, and key milestones, aligning multiple stakeholders for seamless execution.
  • Act as the main point of contact for markets without in-market communications support, advising senior leaders and bridging with the central Corporate Affairs team.
  • Create and manage high-quality media and communication materials (e.g., press releases, statements, website/LinkedIn content, Q&A) aligned with business messaging, and support spokesperson training.
  • Build and maintain strong media and external partner relationships, identifying opportunities to enhance brand visibility and deliver impactful partnerships.
  • Manage agency partners and proactively monitor, report, and mitigate reputational risks across media, stakeholders, and digital channels.

What You’ll Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in external communications, ideally within fast-paced retail, FMCG, or agency environments.
  • Strong media relations experience, with the ability to advise on and draft responses in high-pressure situations.
  • Proven track record of developing and delivering effective communications plans for key business initiatives.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical thinking and sound judgement, with the ability to simplify complex issues and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Effective communicator and team player, with excellent interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach, and the ability to perform under pressure.
