Manage and enforce EHS compliance on a major data centre construction project: develop H&S plans, report performance metrics, conduct site inspections and audits, manage COSHH and permit-to-work systems, drive safety culture, ensure subcontractor compliance, deliver EHS training and PPE provision, and lead incident investigations.

We are now pleased to announce that we are currently seeking an experienced EHS Manager to join our team on a major Data Centre project. Reporting to the EHS Lead, this role will play a key part in ensuring that all works are delivered in compliance with Winthrop’s Safety Management System and in accordance with statutory legislation and best practice standards.
Requirements
- Oversee project compliance with the Winthrop Safety Management System.
- Develop and maintain Construction Stage Health & Safety Plans.
- Prepare and analyse H&S performance reports and metrics for management review.
- Keep senior management informed of ongoing H&S initiatives, performance, and progress.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Environmental, Health & Safety statutory provisions and legislation.
- Implement and maintain Winthrop Technologies PSCS Environmental, Health & Safety Plans.
- Oversee and support the development of method statements, risk assessments, Safe Plans of Action (SPA), and permit-to-work systems.
- Monitor compliance with the Project Execution Plan and associated safety standards.
- Promote and maintain a positive safety culture across the project and wider business.
- Manage C.O.S.H.H. assessments and ensure control measures are implemented effectively.
- Ensure that safety observations, interventions, and corrective actions are recorded and closed out.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits, documenting findings and ensuring corrective actions are completed.
- Maintain accurate records of statutory inspections and documentation.
- Proactively identify and mitigate project EHS risks.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with Winthrop’s and the project’s EHS policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and manage EHS induction and training programmes for all site personnel.
- Ensure appropriate PPE resources are available and maintained.
- Lead or assist in incident and accident investigations, ensuring timely reporting and communication to the project management team.
Skills / Qualifications:
- Degree in Environmental, Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing EHS on large-scale construction projects (Data Centre experience highly desirable).
- Strong knowledge of current Irish and EU Health & Safety legislation.
- Proven ability to manage all EHS aspects of a complex construction site.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office and EHS reporting systems.
- Ability to work on own initiative while fostering collaboration across teams and subcontractors.
- Flexible approach to working patterns and changing project priorities.
