Background

Cubic Telecom has developed and successfully deployed a unique portfolio of Automotive Industry & IoT software solutions in multiple markets globally. Cubic provides unique software products and an end-to end connectivity management platform which have enabled our customers to deploy important mobility applications in millions of their vehicles globally. We are looking to appoint a Director of Business Development to be based in Dublin, who has proven skills in professional solution selling and experience in working with large Automotive manufacturers.

The Role

The role is to lead Cubic’s business development efforts focusing on key target prospects across the Automotive industry. The successful candidate will be expected to identify, negotiate and close exciting deals with global companies centred around Cubic’s innovative connectivity solutions and unique mobility product portfolio. Your skills and capability to create deep and trusted customer relationships will be an important contribution to Cubic’s growth strategy. This position will demand a creative, commercially focused individual who enjoys the feeling of winning.

We expect you to:

  • Deliver annual sales targets and growth objectives from new clients by winning long term contracts and partnerships and selling end-to-end solutions that bring true value to the client.
  • Build working partnerships with senior leadership and decision-makers across a wide range of functional groups, including strategy, research & development, product management, car software, marketing and sales functions.
  • Develop high quality opportunities for Cubic solutions through deep understanding of needs, business challenges and business plans.
  • Manage what can be a long solution sales cycle with determination by: networking; working your relationships continuously; demonstrating deep understanding of the client’s business needs and problems; generating your own leads; providing customers with valuable insights and offerings as part of an on-going, consultative relationship; overseeing sales proposals and RFQ responses; negotiating major contracts; representing Cubic in important planning and steering groups; and ensuring full involvement and alignment of Cubic’s product and software engineering teams.
  • Stay current on the latest Automotive, IoT and Software industry trends.
  • Work with the internal Cubic Teams feeding back insights from your engagements with the OEMs that will help shape future product roadmaps and innovations.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of solution selling preferably within the Automotive industry. Direct experience with Automotive Manufacturers and strategic partners to the Automotive industry will be a significant advantage
  • Good understanding of the latest key enabling technologies impacting the Automotive industry –Telematics, Navigation Software, Onboard Network Processors, Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS), Sensor Systems, Vision Systems, Wireless Communications and Big Data.
  • Extensive experience establishing relationships across all levels within the organisation
  • Exceptional presentation skills and/or public speaking experience
  • Strategic, consultative, and analytical sales approach, with focus on building sustainable partnerships with clients
  • Ability to confidently represent Cubic Telecom’s solution and establish credibility as a subject matter expert in Automotive mobility solutions.
