As our Digital Content, SEO & AI Discoverability Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in managing one of Bord Gáis Energy's most commercially important digital channels. SEO is currently one of our strongest drivers of sales and leads, and this role will ensure that organic search, AI discoverability and digital content are strategically optimised to support commercial growth, customer acquisition and overall digital performance.
Reporting into the Digital team, you'll lead the development and execution of SEO, content and AI discoverability strategies, ensuring customers can find, trust and engage with our content across traditional search engines, AI-powered search experiences and emerging digital discovery platforms. You'll work collaboratively across marketing, digital, product and technology teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences while driving measurable business outcomes.
💼 What You'll Be Doing- Develop and implement the SEO strategy across technical SEO, on-page optimisation, content management and AI-driven search to improve search rankings, organic traffic, conversions, sales and leads.
- Conduct technical SEO audits, keyword research, performance monitoring and reporting, ensuring best practices across crawlability, indexing, page speed, mobile optimisation and content performance.
- Develop and execute backlink, Digital PR and brand discoverability strategies to improve domain authority, visibility and how Bord Gáis Energy is found and recommended across search, AI-generated answers, social discovery and third-party platforms.
- Own and develop the AI Optix approach for digital content, ensuring the website is optimised for AI-led search experiences, answer engines, generative search and large language model visibility.
- Monitor developments across AI search platforms, including Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini and other emerging discovery platforms, turning insights into practical optimisation opportunities.
- Work closely with Digital Experience Managers, Customer Value Management, Social Media and wider stakeholders to create, optimise and manage digital content that is aligned with business objectives, customer needs and SEO best practice.
- Manage the content lifecycle within the CMS, maintain content roadmaps and identify opportunities through competitor benchmarking, keyword research, user behaviour analysis and performance data.
- Lead personalisation content planning with the Customer Value Management team, managing content pipelines, analysing performance and building optimised CMS content to support targeted customer actions.
- Strengthen brand authority and customer consideration through high-quality, trusted and customer-focused content across all digital touchpoints.
- Support homepage optimisation and information architecture improvements to enhance customer journeys, content performance and search visibility.
- Ensure all digital content meets legal, regulatory, accessibility and GDPR requirements, working closely with legal and compliance teams where required.
- Manage Rewards Programme content updates, ensuring alignment with SEO best practice and a seamless customer experience.
- Act as the subject matter expert for SEO, AI discoverability and digital content optimisation, working with Digital Tech Services, marketing teams, agencies and stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
- Lead and support digital transformation initiatives, including website migrations, new digital tools, review platforms and emerging technologies that enhance SEO and content capabilities.
- Stay up to date with emerging digital trends and innovations, ensuring Bord Gáis Energy remains competitive in an evolving digital landscape.
- Strong understanding of SEO best practices, technical SEO, and content strategy with a proven track record of driving organic traffic and improving search rankings.
- Extensive experience in keyword research, on-page optimisation, and managing backlink strategies.
- Familiarity with SEO tools (e.g., Google Analytics, SEMrush, Ahrefs) and CMS platforms for content management and optimisation.
- Experience managing large-scale content updates and projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and business objectives.
- Proven ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, driving cross-functional alignment on content and SEO goals.
- Ability to manage third-party partners and internal stakeholders to execute content updates in alignment with business goals.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, writing user stories, and working within a sprint framework to deliver content changes efficiently.
- Proven experience in delivering content for commercial targets, including offers and product pages.
- Familiarity with key BGE systems, including Salesforce and CMS tools, to ensure seamless integration of content and workflows.
- Strong analytical skills, using data to assess content performance and make improvements that enhance user experience and conversion rates.
- Solid understanding of the Irish energy industry, specifically in relation to regulatory requirements for digital content preferred but not necessary.
