We are seeking a Data Migration Engineer to own the analysis, design, execution and validation of customer data migrations into the Vew platform.

This role focuses on helping customers successfully transition from legacy claims and insurance systems into Vew through repeatable, high-quality migration processes. The Data Migration Engineer will work closely with customers, Solution Architects, Product Teams and Engineering Teams to ensure data is accurately transformed, reconciled and validated throughout the implementation lifecycle.

You will treat migration capability as a product, continuously improving tooling, automation and processes to make future implementations faster, safer and more repeatable. This is not simply a data loading role; it is a customer-facing engineering role focused on implementation success, data quality and delivery excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical analysis, design, execution and validation of customer data migrations into Vew.
  • Analyse customer databases, schemas and legacy systems, leading data discovery, profiling and source-to-target mapping activities.
  • Design migration approaches, transformation rules, mappings and validation strategies aligned with the Vew data model.
  • Write and optimise complex SQL to extract, transform, validate and reconcile customer data.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance C#/.NET migration tooling, utilities and automation.
  • Plan and execute repeatable and auditable migration dry runs, production cutovers, incremental migrations and post-migration reconciliation.
  • Diagnose and resolve data quality issues, migration failures, performance problems and reconciliation discrepancies.
  • Act as the technical migration contact for customers and work with internal teams to resolve migration requirements, risks and issues.
  • Continuously improve migration tooling, reusable components, automation, documentation and standard migration practices.

Key Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in database engineering, software engineering or data migration, with hands-on responsibility for production data migrations.
  • Expert SQL/T-SQL skills, including complex queries, data transformation, bulk processing, query optimisation, indexing and performance troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, complex data models, large datasets and data integrity principles.
  • Strong C#/.NET development skills, with the ability to understand, troubleshoot, enhance and build migration tooling and automation.
  • Proven experience delivering end-to-end data migrations, including discovery, mapping, transformation, validation, reconciliation and production cutover.
  • Experience designing migration processes that are repeatable, restartable, auditable and safe to re-run.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with experience resolving data quality issues, migration failures and source-to-target discrepancies.
  • Experience with Azure, APIs and common data exchange formats such as JSON, CSV and XML.
  • Strong customer-facing communication and stakeholder-management skills, with experience working directly with customers on technical migration requirements and risks.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Azure SQL, Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD and automated testing.
  • Experience working with sensitive data in regulated industries such as insurance or financial services.
  • Experience building automated validation and reconciliation tooling.
  • Experience migrating data from legacy enterprise or bespoke customer applications.
  • Experience within insurance, financial services or another highly regulated industry.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, SSIS or similar ETL technologies.
  • Experience designing or improving reusable migration frameworks and tooling.
