What does a successful Data Engineer do?
At Fiserv, a successful Data Engineer leverages their technical expertise to deliver data-driven solutions with exceptional quality and speed. You will support agile teams in the EMEA data analytics domain by designing and building cutting-edge data migration, integration, replication, and streaming systems. This role is critical in ensuring our Snowflake data warehouse and analytics solutions are robust and operationalized at scale.

What you will do:
- Develop ETL pipelines for data transformation and aggregation using Java/Scala/Python Spark jobs
- Write SQL queries against Snowflake for data manipulation and retrieval
- Provide production support for data warehouse issues, including data load problems and transformation translation errors
- Create unit tests for data transformations and aggregations
- Develop real-time or batch data integrations between systems with production-grade quality
- Process real-time data events from Kafka into the data warehouse using streaming techniques
- Design and build medium to high complexity data pipelines
- Translate BI and reporting requirements into database and reporting designs
- Understand data transformation and translation requirements and select appropriate tools
- Design and build medium to high complexity machine learning pipelines
- Execute continuous integration and test-driven development practices for rapid delivery of working code
- Deploy production-grade data pipelines, infrastructure, and data artifacts as code
- Develop estimates for data-driven solutions
- Communicate technical, product, and project information to stakeholders
- Establish standards of good practice, including coding standards and data governance
- Perform peer code reviews

What you will need to have:
- Strong background in creating Snowpipe, and complex data transformations using Snow SQL
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake external tables, staging, scheduler, and performance tuning
- Knowledge of Snowflake time travel concepts, zero-copy cloning, network policies, clustering, and tasks
- Deep understanding of Spark, Kafka, and data warehouses such as Snowflake, Hive, Redshift
- Experience in development, deployment, and operation of data technologies and platforms including ETL and microservices
- Proficiency with low latency/streaming data processing, batch processing, and micro batch processing
- Expertise in SQL and operating systems, particularly Linux

What would be great to have:

- Migration experience to Snowflake
- Experience with Oracle RDBMS
- Exposure to ETL tools like Streamsets or DBT.
