This is a high-profile position within the Audit practice, offering the opportunity to influence audit quality across the firm's most significant and complex engagements, including Public Interest Entity (PIE) Audits.

Working closely with Audit Partners, engagement teams and quality leadership, you will contribute to the firm's audit quality agenda through independent insight, challenge and quality improvement initiatives. You will provide insight, challenge and guidance on significant audit judgements, support the consistent application of best practice, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of the firm's audit quality and regulatory response framework.

This position is ideally suited to a senior audit professional looking to broaden their impact beyond individual client engagements and help drive audit excellence across a dynamic and growing practice.

The Role

As an Associate Director / Director, you will provide independent insight and professional challenge on complex audit matters while helping to shape quality outcomes across the firm.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing independent review and challenge on significant audit judgements, conclusions and complex audit matters.
  • Partnering with Audit Partners and senior engagement teams to support robust decision-making on matters of complexity, risk and professional judgement.
  • Supporting and promoting consistency in the application of auditing standards, regulatory requirements and leading audit practices.
  • Identifying emerging audit quality themes, regulatory developments and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Supporting the design and implementation of strategic audit quality initiatives across the practice.
  • Contributing to the firm's response to regulatory inspections and evolving stakeholder expectations.
  • Sharing insights and contributing to discussions that enhance audit quality, professional scepticism and audit excellence.
  • Building strong relationships and influencing senior stakeholders through credible, balanced and commercially aware challenge.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking an experienced audit professional operating at Associate Director, Director or equivalent level who combines strong technical capability with the ability to influence and engage effectively with senior stakeholders.

You will have:

  • Significant experience working on large and complex audit engagements, ideally within a PIE environment.
  • Strong technical expertise in auditing standards and financial reporting requirements.
  • A deep understanding of audit quality, regulatory expectations and professional judgement.
  • The ability to assess complex matters objectively, focusing on the issues most critical to audit quality.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage constructively with senior audit professionals.
  • Curiosity, critical thinking and a commitment to continuous improvement and audit excellence.

Experience gained within audit quality, technical, professional practice, regulatory or inspection environments would be advantageous.

Why Join Us?

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of audit quality across the firm.

You will:

  • Influence quality outcomes across a portfolio of the firm's most significant audit engagements.
  • Work directly with Audit Partners and senior leadership.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the firm's audit quality agenda.
  • Gain exposure to complex technical issues, significant professional judgements and evolving regulatory developments.
  • Lead and support initiatives that drive continuous improvement across the audit practice.
  • Develop a broad and influential perspective across multiple sectors, clients and engagement teams.
  • Play a central role in fostering a culture of audit quality, excellence and accountability.

This role offers the opportunity to combine technical expertise, professional judgement and leadership influence while making a meaningful contribution to audit quality across the practice.
