BDO Ireland is seeking a Qualified Senior to join our growing Financial Services Audit team in Dublin.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of domestic and international clients across the financial services sector, including investment funds, asset management firms, lending institutions and other regulated entities. As a Qualified Senior, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality audit engagements, developing client relationships and supporting the continued growth of our practice.
Working closely with experienced managers and partners, you will gain exposure to complex audit assignments, take ownership of client engagements and build the technical and leadership skills needed to progress your career.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA or equivalent), with a strong track record in a professional services environment.
  • 3–5 years’ external audit experience, with demonstrable exposure to Financial Services clients (e.g., funds, management companies, SPVs, leasing, or related regulated entities).
  •  Strong working knowledge of ISA (Ireland) and the Irish audit regulatory environment, including quality management expectations.
  •  Robust financial reporting capability across IFRS and Irish GAAP (FRS 102/101), with practical experience applying standards commonly seen in FS engagements (e.g., financial instruments, fair value, consolidation, investment entities, SPVs).
  • Experience auditing key FS risk areas, including valuation, existence/ownership of investments, management fee calculations, NAV-related processes (where applicable), revenue recognition, and service organisation / outsourcing controls (e.g., ISAE 3402 / SOC reports)
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and ability to design and execute effective audit procedures, including controls testing and a risk-based approach.
  •  High standard of audit documentation, with proven ability to deliver files that meet internal and external review standards (e.g., file quality, clear coaching notes resolution, conclusions supported by evidence).
Client & Stakeholder Management
  •  Strong client service ethos, with the ability to build trusted relationships with client finance teams and key stakeholders.
  • Effective communicator—able to present clear, concise findings and discuss technical accounting/audit matters with confidence.
  •  Comfortable managing engagement expectations, including status updates, issue escalation, and pragmatic resolution of audit queries.
Delivery, Leadership & Ways of Working
  •  Strong planning, prioritisation and time management, including budgeting, WIP management, and delivering to deadlines across multiple engagements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead on-site / fieldwork, allocate work appropriately, and delegate effectively to junior team members.
  • Proven coaching approach—able to develop junior staff through feedback, review notes, and on-the-job training.
  • Commercially aware—understands how audit delivery, efficiency and quality drive value for both client and firm.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, demonstrating strong initiative, ownership of deliverables, and a solutions-focused mindset.
  • Adaptable and open to change, with a positive approach to evolving standards, methodologies and technology-enabled audit.
Systems & Tools
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including the ability to work confidently with large datasets and deliver clear audit outputs.
  • Familiarity with audit software and data analytics tools is beneficial, with an interest in improving audit efficiency through technology.
