About the Role:
EIID’s Financial Control and Reporting team in Dublin are hiring a Trainee/Assistant Accountant (part-qualified) as part of a plan to scale-up and support Everest’s wider growth plan.
The Trainee/Assistant Accountant will report to the Financial Reporting Manager and support the month and quarter end close process, as well as preparation of internal and external reporting under various accounting standards (US GAAP, Irish GAAP, Solvency II, and other European GAAP bases, as applicable). They will work alongside and support the wider team in the completion of day-to-day insurance reporting and controllership activities, including any projects essential to a high-quality finance delivery in a growth environment.
This position will be based in our Dublin office with a hybrid schedule of working two days remote each week.
Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

Support month and quarter end close reporting, including journal posting to the general ledger (Peoplesoft/Oracle).

Prepare and maintain management accounts, including reconciliations of Income Statement and Balance Sheet GL accounts.

Support the analysis of quarterly results at a Line of Business level, including variance analysis between Actual and Plan numbers.

Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements and accounting reports under US GAAP, Irish GAAP and other accounting basis, as required.

Assist in preparation of Solvency II quarterly and annual returns to the applicable regulators.

Support both internal and external audit processes.

Build relationships across the business to gain an understanding of the end-to-end financial reporting process.

Maintain SOX compliant controls around key processes and identify improvements in processes.

Supporting ad hoc finance projects and tasks, as required.

Studying for and sitting accountancy exams (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent), and being successful in the task.
Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or similar is required.

Part qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent), working towards qualification.

Experience working in a Finance function or similar role.

Experience of the insurance industry is desirable.

Strong organisational skills, with the ability to effectively manage time and multitask in a dynamic working environment.

Analytical, with attention to detail and accuracy being essential.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, to handle sensitive and confidential information.

Excellent IT skills; must be proficient in Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPS, etc.).

Self-starter; capable of working both independently and within a team environment.
