We’re currently recruiting for a Model Development Actuary to join the European Actuarial Function in Ireland to provide actuarial modelling subject matter expertise for SL Intl to stakeholder across the business and to act as the principle point if contact with the centralised UK model development team. This is to support and ensure the accurate valuation of SL Intl's policy liabilities and ensure effective decision making on order to deliver the company strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the specification, development and testing of actuarial models used in the valuation and pricing of Standard Life International's life insurance products, including any control frameworks and policies.
- Engage regularly with the UK model development team to ensure Standard Life International's schedule of model developments is maintained, up-to-date and prioritised appropriately.
- Provide subject matter expertise on actuarial modelling to the Head of Actuarial Function and wider team (Actuarial Function). This extends to locally developed models and adjustments to ensure they are robust and meet all required standards.
- Represent Standard Life International in group-wide modelling forums and working groups
- Contribute to the preparation of papers and reports for senior management and executives as required, with suitable supervision.
- Communicate effectively with a technical actuarial audience and simplify communications of technical issues to a non-technical audience.
- Continually look to enhance processes and procedures to deliver effective solutions for the business.
- Provide technical leadership in key areas of expertise and represent business area appropriately within cross divisional projects.
- Maintaining up to date regulatory, business & professional knowledge in an environment of fast moving regulatory change.
- Maintaining breadth and depth of technical understanding to meet Continuing Professional Development requirements.
- Communicating complex concepts and recommendations to multiple stakeholders across the business both in Ireland, the UK and Germany.
- Regularly working to defined and tight timescales whilst maintaining professional standards.
- Balancing business demand, issues and risks by applying sound judgement in complex scenarios, often with considerable uncertainty.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland (or equivalent)
- In-depth experience of developing or interrogating actuarial modelling platform
- Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders across the business and in various geographical locations
- Education - Undergraduate Degree (or equivalent)
- Languages - English
