Prodigy Learning, an edtech company based in Dublin, announced the availability of a new credentialing product developed in partnership with Minecraft Education. Cyber in Minecraft aims to combine the immersive, virtual world of Minecraft with Prodigy Learning’s educational tools.
Offering opportunities for both educators and students, Cyber in Minecraft aims to engage students in learning experiences that help them build key cybersecurity skills. The pathway also gives them information about relevant roles in the industry. For educators of all experience levels, Cyber in Minecraft provides them with a simple curriculum focused on game-based learning.
Cyber in Minecraft consists of three units focused on digital citizenship, networking and security. Upon pathway completion, students take a credential exam where they can earn a Cyber in Minecraft cybersecurity certificate and digital badge. This launch comes on the heels of Prodigy Learning and Minecraft Education announcing their partnership in May 2024.
“Cybersecurity is a critical area for skills development worldwide. To thrive in this age of AI, every student needs the opportunity to learn cybersecurity concepts,” Andrew Flood, CEO of Prodigy Learning, said in a statement. “What better way to empower students to develop and prove their cybersecurity skills than through game-based fun in Minecraft Education.”
