With multiple awards to our name, Larian Studios has proven that we’re dedicated to delivering high-quality role-playing games. As we move on to new projects, the studio that brought you Baldur’s Gate 3 & Divinity: Original Sin 2 is looking for a VFX Artist Intern to join the team and help us in crafting the high caliber games our fans have come to expect.

The VFX team's mission is to craft impressive spells that feel magical, believable, and understandable: spells that tell a story and suspend disbelief. They also create memorable environment effects that make the world feel alive and fantastical, effects that support the mood and emotion of places and events, enhancing the overall player experience.

Responsibilities

  • Create Visual Effects for gameplay abilities (spells), creatures, custom scripted events and for environmental decoration using Particle Effects, models and custom shaders.
  • Occasional contributions to cinematic VFX depending on project demands

Requirements

  • Strong portfolio showing complex real-time VFX with a preference for "Magical VFX", demonstrating a solid understanding of color, composition and timing. Portfolio should include a variety of styles and types of VFX.
  • Intermediate knowledge of any DCC package (e.g. Maya, Blender, Houdini).
  • Must be willing to work onsite in the Studio
  • A professional level of written and spoken English*

Nice to haves

  • Portfolio that shows a wide range of visual effects, from Magical/Fantasy to realistic fire and destruction.
  • Houdini/Substance/Maya knowledge.
  • Production experience in Unreal, Unity or other modern engine.
  • Having shipped a game -no matter how small- or completed a student project.
  • Experience creating custom shaders using node-based tools or scripting (e.g. HLSL)

What we offer

  • An international team of over 400 employees spread across 7 studios around the world, each of which have their own unique qualities, and maintain a small-studio feel
  • An open, collaborative environment where ideas are welcome and encouraged
  • A managerial team consisting of highly experienced game developers at the top of their fields
  • Sharing hobbies and passions with likeminded colleagues
  • Inclusive environment with many activities organized by the studios or the employees
  • Commitment to making the best game possible for the fans, including listening to community feedback

Please be aware that this is a 3 month contract and will require the successful applicant to work onsite in the Dublin Studio
