Serve as support for various underwriting responsibilities and departments and reports to an Underwriting Manager. Responsibilities will include regional denials and assumption reviews in addition to all other tasks within the team such as mortgage insurance orders, Collateral Desktop Analysis (CDA) orders, down payment assistance (DPA) approvals, investor take outs.

- Review and process mortgage insurance requests
- Reconcile weekly and monthly reports to validate volume with mortgage insurance partners and resolve any discrepancies.
- Order Collateral Desktop Analysis (CDA’S) reports and perform follow up on outstanding requests.
- Perform second level review for accuracy on loans denied by the regional sales department.
- Review and complete denials for correspondent channel to maintain Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) compliance
- Review undisclosed liabilities for refinance and purchase transactions and complete credit attestation letter on new credit inquiries to comply with Federal National Mortgage Association (FNMA) loan quality initiative (LQI) to mitigate repurchase liability.
- Perform an underwriting review on credit qualifying assumption requests received from servicing.
- Upload prior approval packages to Veteran’s Administration (VA) portal for review.
- Upload credit underwriting packages and appraisals to Jumbo investors
- Review Downpayment Assistance Programs to ensure program meets eligibility guideline requirements.

- High School Diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred
- Two (2) years of residential loan underwriting experience
- DE or SAR certifications preferred.
Required knowledge, skills, and ability. Examples below.
- Detailed knowledge of Agency and Non-Agency underwriting guidelines and products through proficient use and review of manuals, procedures, memos and training materials.
- Advanced ability to make risk-based lending decisions supported with relevant data and research.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong technical skills including Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced mortgage environment.
