Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Test Automation Engineer to support quality assurance, testing strategy, test planning, automation, and validation activities across complex web, mobile, and enterprise systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring software quality through comprehensive testing practices, defect management, automation, accessibility validation, performance testing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on testing strategy, test plans, testing tools, and resource requirements.
  
• Plan and organize testing efforts for large-scale GUI and non-GUI systems.
  
• Execute system integration testing, specialized testing, stress testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  
• Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
  
• Execute functional, integration, system, and regression testing.
  
• Validate system functionality under various operating conditions.
  
• Identify, document, and track software defects using defect management tools.
  
• Work closely with development teams to reproduce, investigate, and resolve issues.
  
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using industry-standard automation frameworks and tools.
  
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  
• Conduct performance, load, and stress testing to validate scalability and reliability.
  
• Ensure compliance with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards and related regulations.
  
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure quality outcomes.
  
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
  
• Maintain test documentation, quality metrics, and test coverage reports.
  
• Contribute to user documentation and release notes.
  
• Ensure testing activities align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  
• Validate data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across systems and databases.
  
• Support data migration and transformation testing initiatives.
  
• Participate in defect triage activities and produce defect reporting and analysis.
  

Required Qualifications

QA & Technical Experience

• 5+ years of experience working within Agile, Scrum, or DevOps environments.
  
• 5+ years of experience testing web and mobile applications across multiple platforms and operating systems.
  
• 5+ years of hands-on experience performing systems testing, mobile testing, accessibility testing, and user acceptance testing.
  
• Strong experience creating Testing Strategies and Test Plans.
  
• 5+ years of experience analyzing business requirements and developing test data requirements.
  
• Extensive experience creating detailed test cases and test scenarios.
  
• Proven experience identifying, documenting, and communicating software defects.
  
• Experience triaging defects, leading defect discussions, and producing defect metrics and reports.
  
• Experience using defect management and test management tools.
  
• Experience creating and managing test cases within enterprise testing platforms.
  
• Extensive experience developing and executing automated testing suites.
  
• Experience analyzing automation results and communicating findings to project teams and management.
  
• Experience with accessibility testing tools including screen readers and related accessibility technologies.
  
• Experience conducting backend and data validation testing.
  
• Experience with API testing tools and automation frameworks.
  
• Understanding of scripting languages used for testing and automation activities.
  
• Experience conducting performance and load testing.
  

General Skills

• Knowledge of structured software development methodologies.
  
• Experience with functional, non-functional, integration, regression, and acceptance testing.
  
• Experience supporting UAT initiatives.
  
• Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes.
  
• Experience creating testing strategies, plans, test data, and test cases.
  
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within project teams.
  
• Ability to meet deadlines within fast-paced environments.
  
• Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall delivery methodologies.

• Experience with at least one programming language.

• Understanding of Information Management principles and practices.
  
• Experience planning and organizing testing efforts for both small and large systems.
