As a Test Architect, you will play a pivotal role in defining, spearheading and executing the test automation strategy for our customer. Your role includes creating uniform standards for automation frameworks and helping our onshore and offshore automation teams work more skillfully. You will also seek ways to integrate automation efforts and make sure various product teams collaborate well. Required Skills:
- 8+ years of experience in test automation, with at least 3+ years in a management or architecture role
- Experience with setting up large-scale automation systems.
- Robust expertise in automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, RestAssured, or similar
- Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices, with experience integrating test automation into CI/CD
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (Java, JavaScript, Python, or similar)
- Experience working with cloud-based test execution platforms
- Robust knowledge of API testing, performance testing, and test data management strategies
- Awareness with BDD/TDD methodologies and tools such as Cucumber or SpecFlow
- Solid management, mentoring, and coaching abilities for onshore and offshore teams
- Impressive stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
- A results-oriented mindset with a focus on short-term deliverables and long-term transformation
Key responsibilities & duties include:
Automation Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute a comprehensive automation strategy that aligns with our customer’s product-centric delivery model
- Lead the development and standardisation of scalable, reusable automation frameworks
- Establish best practices for automation across multiple teams, ensuring consistency in tooling, methodologies, and reporting
- Provide technical management, mentoring, and guidance to automation engineers across onshore and offshore teams
- Collaborate with DevOps to integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines to enable faster, more reliable releases
Test Automation Execution & Framework Development
- Develop and maintain robust, scalable automation frameworks for UI, API, and performance testing
- Ensure automation is optimised for test reliability, execution pace and maintainability
- Drive adoption of automation in testing processes, reducing reliance on manual regression efforts
- Oversee test data management strategies and ensure automation supports parallel execution for scalability
- Continuously evaluate emerging tools and technologies to enhance the automation ecosystem
Collaboration & Centralisation Efforts
- Work with QA management to explore and establish an offshore centralised automation hub while ensuring alignment with current onshore and offshore teams
- Partner with product, engineering, and DevOps teams to ensure automation is embedded in the software development lifecycle
- Provide input into hiring, training, and developing automation engineers to build a high-performing team
- Champion automation metrics, reporting on test coverage, defect trends, and execution performance
Governance & Best Practices
- Define automation KPIs and drive reporting standards for visibility across teams
- Ensure alignment of automation strategies with regulatory and compliance requirements
- Standardise test execution strategies across different products and teams
- Advocate for shift-left testing practices and ensure automation is leveraged early in the development lifecycle
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in transitioning teams from Zephyr to alternative test management tools such as Xray or TestRail
- Knowledge of AI-driven testing solutions and automation in a microservices architecture
- Awareness of performance engineering and security testing best practice
