We're hiring a Test Automation Lead for a key strategic role to shape the direction of test automation across mobile and web platforms, define standards and guide teams in delivering high-quality, scalable products. This is a technical leadership role with broad influence, ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on while mentoring others and driving quality across the SDLC.
This is a hybrid role, with presence required at our customer site in Dublin at least once per week.
What you'll do:
Test Strategy & QA Leadership
- Lead the implementation of quality engineering practices across product teams and their delivery pipelines.
- Define, enforce and continuously evolve testing standards aligned with change control and governance processes.
- Own and drive scalable QA tooling strategies to ensure consistency and maintainability across product lines.
- Take full ownership of mobile test standards, defining and enforcing best practices across the organization.
- Act as a technical leader for the QA discipline, setting the tone for quality-first delivery.
Automation & Framework Ownership
- Champion the adoption of test automation at all levels of the stack (web, mobile, API, etc.).
- Support and improve maintainable automation frameworks using tools like Appium, Selenium and custom-built solutions.
- Collaborate closely with DevOps to ensure automation is tightly integrated with CI/CD pipelines.
- Dive into automation codebases, conduct code reviews and guide team members in solving technical challenges.
- Track and report on key automation metrics such as test effectiveness, failure trends and release quality.
Coaching, Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Foster alignment between onshore and offshore QA contributors.
- Work with product managers, engineers and DevOps to embed quality earlier in the SDLC through a shift-left approach.
- Facilitate team retrospectives and promote continuous improvement through actionable outcomes.
- Assess QA team capability and establish coaching and mentoring plans.
Governance & Visibility
- Establish KPIs and dashboards that make testing progress, gaps and coverage visible across teams.
- Drive test maturity across the org, identifying weaknesses and leading the charge to close them.
- Act as a change agent for quality, ensuring quality and automation are seen as pillars of delivery.
What you bring:
- 8+ years in software testing, with 2–3 years in a senior or lead technical role
- Strong hands-on experience in mobile testing (iOS/Android) and web automation
- Advanced knowledge of test automation tooling: Appium, Selenium and related frameworks
- Proficiency in Java, JavaScript or Python
- Experience working with cloud environments (preferably AWS)
- Strong grasp of QA in CI/CD contexts and modern agile product delivery
- Excellent communication, change management and leadership skills
- Ability to define standards, mentor teams and influence technical direction
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with test management tools (e.g., Xray, TestRail)
- Awareness of performance, security, or accessibility testing
- Experience with regulated environments or compliance-focused QA
- Passion for exploratory and usability testing
